    id a disco/hi energy song

    Hi guys,

I am looking for a disco/hi energy song(sung by female) that I haven t heard since 1983.The problem is that I cant remember any lyrics, but If my memory serves me right this track climbed at number three or number four on UK top ten the same week that "when doves cry" by Prince was number one in US top ten.(Guys I have to say that Iam not sure about this)

I also think that "Our house" by Madness or living on ceilingby Blancemange were on the UK Top ten the same week

    Any ideas?

I pretty sure its Hazell Dean 'Whatever I do (wherever I go).
That was the same year as Prince. 1984. And around the same time, July/August.

Madness & Blancmage were both 1982. Well Madness was at the end 1982!

    Hope that helps.

the song that Iam looking for could be "whatever I do whatever I go"(Ihave to check it) but I think that the artist wasn t so popular like Hazell Dean.I was searching the web about all the uk top ten hits which climbed on top at number three, four, five, two, during 1982-1984 and I made a list with not identified songs

    1.Bell stars - sign o the times
    2.Jo Boxers - boxerbeat
    3.Tracey Ulman-Breakaway/They dont know
4Galaxy and Phil Fearon - Dancing tight/what do I do
5 Beat -Cant get used to losing you
    6.Break machine - street dance
    7.Bardo

can you or someone else inform me which of these tracks are disco/hi energy?

    hi,
Breakmachine is disco but not hi-energy - all the others are far from being hi-energy songs.

Hazell Dean was really the only hi-energy song in the UK top 5 during Prince's number 1 reign in the USA in summer 1984

Hi Georgeb. Non of the above are Hinrg.

Bardo was our dreadfuk Eurovision entry in 1982!!!

    I've searched the UK charts, and the only Hinrg toons to go top 10 in that period are;

Hazell Dean 'Whatever I do'/ 'Searching'
    Evelyn Thomas 'High Energy'
    Weather Girls 'Its raining men'

Can't find any others in 1984!!

    Hiya there,
If you knew roughly what time of year during '84 this song was out, ie summer or autumn, we may be able to help you. I'm guessing your song could be Shannon's "Let the music play" or even "sweet somebody" also by her. They both have a Hi Energy sound, and were hits in the UK in that year. If you could recall a few lyrics from the chorus, that would be even better.

Davicillo is right about these songs coming from 1982. They were hits during the latter part of that year. So are you sure it was '82? If so, it may have been "Never Give You Up" by Sharon Redd

Hi Davicillo,Discomuc,Buckaroo.I would like to thank you for your answers.I appreciate your help.

First of all,I have to check if the song that I am looking for is "whatever I do" by Hazell Dean(the song became a uk top four hit).I am trying to find a way to listen this song but here in Greece the record vinyl shops aren t consider best places for someone to find old 12'.I was searching on every hit com and I realize that Iam /was a little confused. You were right Madness and Blancmange were on the top at the end of 1982 and Prince at 1984!!!! Now I am searching the uk top ten week by week during 1982 and 1984.
this song wasn t great hit or a club hit here.I remember that radio djs played it only when they mentioned on uk top, that makes me think that the artist wasn t Hazell Dean(she is popular in Greece).Radio stations used to play two different versions of this song. One of them started with something like vocoder or a synth string and it has o longer introduction which was more disco funk than hi energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!But the sound of single(short version) was more hi energy and reminds me "I feel love" by Donna Summer. The vocals were soulful!!!!!

Iam sure that the song isnt let the music play by Shannon

All we know that differences and similarities among hi energy/disco/synthpop/electropop/were indistinguishable,so the song I am looking for maybe isn t hi energy at all.

Brooker Newbury III And The Funkmasters are slowish - mid-tempo soul tracks. Ollie and Jerry is pop-electro. Neither 3 are Hinrg.
