Does anybody know this song?

Hi. I've got an old tape (must be from 1986). There's a song on it and I still don't know the artist or the title. It's quite hard to catch the lyrics by ear because the artist's pronunciation is weird. It sounds like an Italian singing in English. It starts with something like "Madonna, angel of my heart, Madonna, I hope we'll never part". The chorus goes like "I would give my, I would give my, I would give my life for you Madonna, bella bella donna...". Can anybody help?
