    :-?
    Thanks a bundle Bernie.
I narrowly missed being caught up in it all, because I was too lazy to go to the gym this morning. So I left the underground before the mayhem started. I, like many others, don't know how I'll be able to get home tonight. Most of the transport services in London at the mo have been shut down. But at least I'm alive, eh?
    It's truly terrible.

Was due in Central London this morning but my meeting got cancelled - was on the tubes yesterday morning and evening. Living in this city I naturally know lots of people working in London and a number have not been acounted for. My brother in law works closely with the police and they are holding back the real number of casualties - rumour has it 95 have been killed in one train attack alone.

It's all very sombre around here & London's effectively been shut down. We knew it was coming and have had this sort of incident many times before but still the shock and cold blooded nature still hits home. After yesterday's euphoria of winning the Olympics this has brought us back down to earth with a bang (no pun intended).

I don't normally work in London, but I was there both last week and the week before. Today I'm working from my company's office 40 miles outside London.

Since 9/11 it really was a matter of when, not if, something like this would happen here. :(

It is a sad day indeed. When I woke up this morning, I saw the news coverage on TV and instantly wondered if any of the English folks who post here were harmed or affected by this terrorist act. :x

I work in Brighton and we had a bomb scare after the London
bombings. The Station closed, no trains, buses were stopped
and the shopping centre closed. Fortunately, it was a hoax, and it was dealt with a controlled explosion. After the tragedy in London, why sickos do this is unforgivable.

Simply disgusting, like all the actions those scumbags already took before! Track 'em down and destroy those cowards!

As the news is developping the figures of casualties and fatalities are rising. My deepest sympathy for those innocent victims and the great nation of England.

And to the fundis: Free your mind and your ass will follow

Just want all our UK friends to know I'm thinking of you and wishing the best for you and your families. After yesterday's jubilation over the Olympics announcement this morning's news was like a punch in the gut.

Cheers mate - the stories are coming out slowly - know dozens of people caught up in today's events many who had lucky escapes. There are still plenty people who we haven't heard from who would have been likely to be using one of the tube lines.....my father-in-law saw the bus explode, a Doctor friend of mine was at a meeting at the same time at the British Medical Assoc. which was next to the bomb & helped the injured and dying.....my Bros. in Law who works for the police was in Euston, driving support vehicles.....it's barbarism & f all to do with Islam....these people are the lowest of the low and should be treated with the disrespect they deserve. No human rights for these animals.

the really bad part about yesterday was the mobile phones being down and not being able to contact people one of my best friends works as underground police and know others that work in those areas it took till 11 a.m today to hear from all,my friend ritchie was working just one tube stop away, the end of the text he sent said 'this is the shitiest day of my life'
you see from headlamps last post how easy it is to be caught up in this even in a big city,i myself had a near miss myself in birmingham in the mid 70s one of the pubs that were bombed me and my friends used as a meeting place and we only met there the night before, george macrae was playing the a.b.c down the road that night even that building shook,i still find it hard to listen to rock you baby without thinking about that night, weve been living with this for more than 30 years now just as we thought it had 'sort of 'gone away

I had a cousin murdered on September 11 by the same scum that murdered your innocent ones in London yesterday.

I hope that the west will eventually drop this "feel good" liberal psycho babble about trying to make muslims love us, and see this latest war with Islam for what it is. ****, even the frogs may eventually come to their senses. Is Paris still "The City Of Lights" or has it become "Mecca On The Seine"?

Following on from Discodisk's post, although London is the biggest city in Europe, it's quite compact. To give some perpsective, there are 16million people (the population of Australia) living in an area the size of Sydney. Anyway, London was quieter yesterday, but by Monday everone will have brushed off the glass and debris and be back to normal. For many it's there first experience of terrorism, particularly 20 somethings, however being er, slightly older I recall many experiences with the IRA -

Witnessing first hand pub bombings, feeling the blast when they attempted to destroy a key intersection in North London, being woken by a blast at some barracks up in this part of town as well as seeing the attempt to mortar number 10 Downing Street. The gay bomber in Old Compton Street (that was very close) You don't get 'used' to it but actually accept it as a way of life - hence the stoicism or 'stiff upper lip' of us Londoners. The jokes have started about these tragic events but again it's a way we try and lighten our mood and get on with daily life.

As I have posted on other forums elsewhere, this has nothing to do with Islam and anyone who says things like 'deport them all', bomb Bradford (large Muslim community), turn Brick Lane (East London) into a concentration camp is playing directly into the hands of these fanatics who want to divide society and drive more moderate Muslims into fanaticsm. 99.999% of the Islamic people are law abiding, peace loving and welcoming of their fellow man, Christian, Jew, Hindu, whatever. A Terrorist is a terrorist, whatever religion he is and is there to destroy life.

    Rant over

What kind of a nut case are you? 99.999% of Islamic people are law abiding, peace loving people who completely accept religious diversity?!? You think only 1 in 10 million Muslims are fanatics?? Our countries are engaged in a war in Iraq to help bring freedom and democracy to that country and who do you think is doing all the fighting against us, a hand full of "misguided" Muslims? If what your saying even had a shread of truth Iraqi's would have welcomed Americans and Brits with open arms to "save" their country, but this is NOT the case. They despise us being over there! I work with someone from Turkey, who states there are constanst terrorist threats there because this is the only Islamic country that believes in the separation of church and state, and so many others..the majority, particularly from the surrounding Arabic countries want to live under a true theocracy. If these people had weapons of mass destruction they would make Hitler look like a saint!

To see Tony Blair, George Bush and the Queen stating these fanatics are only attacking our "freedom" is the fillabuster they want you to believe. They attack because they hate us...period. They hate our culture and the fact we are progressive.

WE SHOULD SEND THEM ALL BACK!!! This is the only way to end the insanity. Let these people fight for freedom in their own country! In the United States we had "the National Origins Act" which forbid any of these people from coming over here for this very reason! If you say they want a race war....then bring it on! And we will win!!!

I agree "paul", people are missing the point. Muslim Theology is the driving force in spirituality to justify the reason in what they are fighting for, which is, the essence of Muslin existence, the culture, identity, nationhood and destiny......The major culprit in what they are fighting against is the ideology of a democracy of corperate power and imperialism.---with its plutocratic, patriarchal, and pigmentocratic realities....like decrepit schools, inadequate health care, pervasive commericialization, poor living wages and not to mention pass an on-going discrimination of race and class, Jim Crowism, American barbarism, slave labor all create a unigue and duplicit form of terrorism in the name of democracy in America.......Not to come off anarchisistic.....but is democracy all that great?

No casualties. Just a lot of traffic congestion & frustration a bit of dust and broken glass. Looks like they've caught a couple of people involved as well. Nothing to worry about!!

Be careful coz' British Police have stated that this attack was intended to kill many people but that somehow the terrorists failed. The strategy is aimed at killing and certainly scaring Londoners.

Structuralism vs. Fundamentalism :o ....perhaps the twosome have forgot about the masses__as we are caught-up in all the demagoguery of politics and war__I suppose the twosome should capture a new spirit and vision__something that lies between Pericles, unadulturated democracy of Anthenian and Dr.Kings, framework of the Civil Rights Movement___Hey "paul", maybe we should start are own political structure and call it, "Discotics" __ all the members of this forum will be part of our cabinet.
