In this horror film, back when horror slasher flicks were fun (not the crap put put today like Scream, etc), there is a scene which I can't figure out is hilarious or fabulous. At the prom, Jamie Lee Curtis and her date start dancing as everyone gathers around in a circle to watch. As the classic disco hit "Prom Night When Everything Is Alright" plays in the background, Jamie Lee and her date do a disco number (as Jamie Lee says to her date, "Come on, let's show em what we can do"). This disco dance will put John Travolta to shame, ala Saturday Night Fever.
My friend and I are gonna learn her disco dance number, and really cut the rug next time we go out, really showing em what we can do. And I will point straight at one of the people watching me dance and start to twirl twirl twirl, just like Jamie did!! Rent PROM NIGHT, memorize the scene, and you too will soon be dancing like the pros. step one step two, now move to the right, now kick to the left. Do the hustle!!

"Did you expect to find discotheques here" - Lorraine di Selle to her slutty blond friend, while on a trip along the Amazon, in Umberto Lenzi's seminal entrail entrée extravaganza "Cannibal Ferox / Make Them Die Slowly".
PROM NIGHT is one of my all time favourite horror flicks - I have the R1 DVD but have ordered the new collectors edition- The disco dancing in the movie is superb - Go for it Jamie !!! 8)

the first thing I thought of when hearing this :
PROM NIGHT
was --- Cheryl Lynn's STAR LOVE -- and I see elsewhere on this site ( included below) DJ Jimmy M made that same comparison, so my gifted, for-members-only , disco ears must be working tonight. A bit Patrick Cowley like sometimes too.
prom night!
everything is alright
prom night !
no more feeling uptight
LOL!!!
now ,
disco dance to it !!!:
STAR NIGHT
BORN TO TURN AROUNDMUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES
This is the infamous sought after and talked about soundtrack to the 1980 slasher film "Prom Night"! As you can see, yes it does exsist. Extremely rare however as only a few thousand copies or so were made available in Japan only.
Now about the music, if you havent seen the film heres a brief rundown. Tons of the disco tracks on this LP are absolutely brilliant however resemble alot of other disco tracks of the time in one way or another. "Changes" is a pure rip off of Gino Soccio's "Dancer. "Time To Turn Around" is very similar to Patrick Hernandez "Born To Be Alive". "Prom Night Pt.2" is almost a Cheryl Lynn "Star Love" rip off. Some of these tracks wernt actually used in the film, but most were.
There are some non disco tracks on this LP. "All Is Gone" is a David Bowie style rock/pop ballad. "Fade To Black" is the infamous closing credits song which is a great beautiful pop ballad if you like this type thing and "Forever" is a mid tempo rock kinda ballad.
The highlight of this LP is "Love Me Till I Die" which is a pure almost fooling to the ear Alec R. Costandinos type production. If I didnt know better, id swear it was him! Good luck finding this LP..its a gem and all around 4 star LP from a cheese horror film.

Baby, take me
high upon a hillside
high up where the stallion
meets the sun
oh we are soooooooo good ,
aren't we !!!!!!!
I'll go with I WILL SURVIVE since they've taken the message of that song (I'll get along fine in life once you're out the door) and flipped it one-eighty so that it's instead about :"please stay forever " .
No wonder this ST was never released ........lawsuits about every song were quite likely awaiting.
