    Motown and ???

    *****

Some performers have so successfully re- recorded Motown songs that their versions have outperformed the originals on the POP chart. The following is a list of some of them :

    The Doobie Bros.
    Blood , Sweat & Tears
    Bonnie Pointer
    Kim Carnes
    Linda Ronstadt
    (careful! )
    Johnny Rivers

What are the songs that each redid well enough that their remakes peaked higher on the HOT 100 chart than the original Motown versions? :-?

    ????

Actually, another one also works for JOHNNY RIVERS:

BABY, I NEED YOUR LOVIN' (originally done by the Four Tops--the Tops peaked at #11 on the Pop chart; JR went to #3 with his cover version.
