Your musical selection for a Discomusic.com party

Hey guys,

let's forget politics (just a little of course - LOL) and concentrate on our music again.

Imagine this situation: our mentor and friend BERNIE becoming a billionaire like the MICROSOFT guy and deciding to do a great Discomusic.com party. All the registered users of this site are invited to the party (all expenses on BERNIE - LOL) and you are the DJ. So you have a crowd of experts to please. I want to know your musical selection for this crazy imaginary party. You can list 15 or 20 songs if you want. Anyone wants to begin the party here?

All the hottest and classics cuts (as long as they are legal (since Bernie now makes Bill Gates look like a Girl Scout that hasn't sold one box of cookies) downloads. I would want some 'top 40', so 'hard-core' and some interseting 'b-sides'. Also I would wish the site to be able to present the music and the history of it without anyone 'STEALING' the music by 'MP3'ing it!!!!!

OK, the Gay "Boys" (ahem) have arrived !!! (fashionably late, of course.)

Jeff couldn't decide which "outfit" best showed off his nipple ring (on the RIGHT!!!) and Keefe insisted on a round of "cocktailing"....so, we finally drag out asses into the gala party.

We exchange hugs and kisses and greetings to all the others ("You're PhyllisHyman"????!!!)
"Disco Disk?" "Steely Dan?" "Funky Dude, is that you?" "Why Jussi, I'd know you anywhere!!!!" ) and then march en masse to the DJ booth, where Nicky is gonna spin a set for us.

Everybody has a OPINION!!!! Quelle Surprise!!! Everybody wants a different Diva played!!! Everyone wants THEIR Diva mixed into something else!!!! nrgbeat wants to do a lyrics quiz before we dance!!!!

Nicky calms our cocktail-fueled squabbling and helps us decide on a few choice cuts. We agree, "Nicky knows best" and give him freedom to mix as he pleases.

One Caveat: WE all agree on one thing: DONNA FIRST!!!!!!!!!!

(Well I waited for someone else to take a turn...BUT, no takers, sooooo....)

Jeff & I make our way out of the old Studio 54 that Bernie has purchased with his billions (Goodbye "Cabaret") and plans to restore to a DISCO ONLY STATE-OF-THE-ART-CLUB ( There are plans for one on the West coast and one in Europe too. Can South America be far behind?) Nicky & Boodi & Lord Of Flatbush & DJ Phil & Mixmachine are among those hired for permanent rotating shifts. Jussi will fly in to do special "Euro-sleaze" evenings featuring images from his favorite Dario Argento films and the most obscure disco on the planet. Sirius & Giovanni will also jet in for special evenings of their classic tunes. Keefe and I even lure Bobby Viteritti out of DJ retirement for a special "Trocadero Transfer Revisited" party, so everyone can experience that special San Francisco "magic".

Sorry, I digressed. Back to the story.

Jeff and I make our way out into the balmy New York evening and find an adult book store where we make some "purchases"

Back to our waiting cab and down to the Studio 54 party.

As we hit the dance floor, Nicky is just mixing out of "Twenty-Four Hours A Day" (Damn, maybe Graham IS RIGHT about that record, I say to myself. :lol: )

Keefe is up in the DJ booth, helping Nicky make "tasteful" choices in upcoming tunes. Keefe's next pick: "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" by Manhattan Transfer. Perfect for starting our "Space Disco/Popper Music" set!!!!

I give Nicky our list and we all hightail it back to the dance floor. I round up Graham and lure him back to the dancefloor with a chant of "Giorgio & Poppers & Bears OH MY!!!"

and Nicky starts the next set with Giorgio's "Evolution" (my fave)....

(No matter what HE may tell you, ZECA DID NOT STOP DANCING) :lol:

The last tune fades out.

Lights come up on the stage. A thin blonde woman emerges from the wings. Anticipation mounts. The crowd is buzzing: "What now?" "Who's she?"

"Is it Agnetha from ABBA?" asks nrgbeat.
"Yeah, fat chance Bernie hauled her ass all the way from her castle in Sweden" Jeff intones sarcastically.
"Amanda Lear?" someone queries.
"Does she look like a man?" Graham snaps impatiently.

"Debbie Harry?" "Too thin."
"Andrea True?" "Too young."
"Vicki Sue Robinson? "Too alive."

I think I've got it. "Madleen Kane" I blurt out. "OOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh" everyone says in unison.

The lights brighten. But, the mystery lady starts to speak instead of sing.

Stepping up to the mike, she says, "Hi. I'm Leanmean. Bernie flew me up from Florida to party with all of you and to introduce a special guest DJ. Let's have a round of applause for Discomusic.com's favorite-- Mr. John Ceglia!!!!!!!!

We nearly plotzed!!! Leanmean, the former doyenne of the site, who one day after ruling the roost for over a year decided she had said everything she wanted to say and just retired, has just introduced the NY DJ who wowed us with his recent series of mixes on the site!

John's a real handsome guy. Jeff is drooling. "He's married AND straight", I say. elbowing Mr H., BUT I'm drooling too.

Well, we can dream, can't we? John steps to the mike in the DJ booth, bowing for his applause, and says his set is a tribute to The Maestro of Disco and the Inventor of the Remix--Mr Tom Moulton!!!!

The gorgeous slow piano opening of "Where The Happy People Go" booms through the speakers.

"Heaven, I'm in Heaven" is the only thing I can utter.

The floor fills--as everyone remembers the power of this seminal disco hit and what it meant to them in 1976......

After what seems like five solid minutes of cheering and applause, Mr Moulton raises his hands for quiet and says "Thank-you. I have the distinct pleasure of introducing tonight's first guest performer...."

First guest performer???? How many secrets and surprises does Bernie have up his sleeve?????

For some reason Boody & the Brazilian crew from "Senhores Do Groove" keep bringing me more Caipirinhas and I feel good. I decide on five--OK six songs to play and they are:
