The Goddess won't hog the turntables so she'll just spin:
1) "Come On Dance, Dance" by Saturday Night Band
and mix it with:
2) "Disco Party" by the Trammps
This is a SWEET and easy mix, people.....Next up?
Hey guys,
let's forget politics (just a little of course - LOL) and concentrate on our music again.
Imagine this situation: our mentor and friend BERNIE becoming a billionaire like the MICROSOFT guy and deciding to do a great Discomusic.com party. All the registered users of this site are invited to the party (all expenses on BERNIE - LOL) and you are the DJ. So you have a crowd of experts to please. I want to know your musical selection for this crazy imaginary party. You can list 15 or 20 songs if you want. Anyone wants to begin the party here?
zeca azevedo, I'll send my own list very soon (just let me think about it)
The Goddess won't hog the turntables so she'll just spin:
1) "Come On Dance, Dance" by Saturday Night Band
and mix it with:
2) "Disco Party" by the Trammps

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"I can see Prussia from my house!". :icon_mrgreen:
I'll add a couple of tracks if I may to keep the party swinging:
POSITIVE FORCE - We Got The Funk
and a real stormer to get the crowd going:
BB & Q BAND - On the Beat
Who's next on the Wheels Of Steel???
If it moves - funk it!!
All the hottest and classics cuts (as long as they are legal (since Bernie now makes Bill Gates look like a Girl Scout that hasn't sold one box of cookies) downloads. I would want some 'top 40', so 'hard-core' and some interseting 'b-sides'. Also I would wish the site to be able to present the music and the history of it without anyone 'STEALING' the music by 'MP3'ing it!!!!!
I'd play Donna Summer's "MacArthur Park Suite", mix it with John Davis/Monster Orchestra's "Ain't That Enough For You", mix it with Taste Of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie", mix it with Machine's "There But For The Grace Of God Go I", mix it with Stephanie Mills' "You Can Get Over".
Dance With Me In The Disco Heat
-------------------------------
Robbie
Cuba, Keep On Dancing, Shake Your Body Down (the remixed version), Dancin'(Crown Heights Affair), All Night Thing, Dance With You, First True Love Affair.

The Goddess steps up to the turntables in a patriotic mood and spins:
"Lady America" by Voyage
then mixes:
"I Love America" by Patrick Juvet
A flag-waving mix for the Fourth.....with songs written/performed by Europeans!
Next up is.....
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"I can see Prussia from my house!". :icon_mrgreen:
Having whipped the crowd into a frenzy, The Goddess steps down, not accepting handshakes but greeting the acolytes kneeling down in front of Her with a smile. Meanwhile, I have taken over the controls, and alas, "Pretty Maid" by The Pretty Maid Company bursts forth. Am I, the dj, really the only one dancing...?
It's time for me to step in again.
Seeing that the crowd are in a patriotic fervour now, and as a gesture of friendship from across the Atlantic, I'm gonna hit them with:
DAVID "FATHEAD" NEWMAN - Keep The Dream Alive
Food for thought there
and then it's time to let rip with
ODYSSEY - Native New Yorker
METROPOLIS - I Love New York
Enjoy your Independence Day, folks!!
BTW - two tunes I played after September 11, and YES, I did cry for my friends "across the Pond" when I played them ..
Which tunes are gonna come up next???
If it moves - funk it!!
Hi friends.![]()
My turn now:
-"OVERTURE" by The miracles;
-"MY LOVE IS FREE" by Double Exposure;
-"YOU AND I" by Rick James;
-"I CANT LOOSE THE STUFF I USE" by Khemistry
-"MELO DO TAGARELA" by Gang do Tagarela
-"THEME FROM SENHORES DO GROOVE" by Conexão Black
Peace.

Well, it's American Independence Day, but it's also an impromptu Brasil Week, nao e'? So the Goddess, wearing a red, white, blue, yellow and green skimpy thingie provided by The God Jussi K spins:
"Magalenha" (Remix) by Sergio Mendes and Carlinhos Brown
"No Ponto" and "Carrinho da Mao" by Terra Samba
"Danca Da Sensual" By Banda Cheiro
"Beija Flor" by Timbalada
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"I can see Prussia from my house!". :icon_mrgreen:
OK, the Gay "Boys" (ahem) have arrived !!! (fashionably late, of course.)
Jeff couldn't decide which "outfit" best showed off his nipple ring (on the RIGHT!!!) and Keefe insisted on a round of "cocktailing"....so, we finally drag out asses into the gala party.
We exchange hugs and kisses and greetings to all the others ("You're PhyllisHyman"????!!!)
"Disco Disk?" "Steely Dan?" "Funky Dude, is that you?" "Why Jussi, I'd know you anywhere!!!!" ) and then march en masse to the DJ booth, where Nicky is gonna spin a set for us.
Everybody has a OPINION!!!! Quelle Surprise!!! Everybody wants a different Diva played!!! Everyone wants THEIR Diva mixed into something else!!!! nrgbeat wants to do a lyrics quiz before we dance!!!!
Nicky calms our cocktail-fueled squabbling and helps us decide on a few choice cuts. We agree, "Nicky knows best" and give him freedom to mix as he pleases.
One Caveat: WE all agree on one thing: DONNA FIRST!!!!!!!!!!
Nicky starts with "Spring Affair"
-- (oh, it's HEAVEN on the DANCE FLOOR. There's Bernie & Nano & Zeca & Blaxman & Paul & HustleBaby and Boodi & Di (all looking fine!!!!) and partying like there's NO TOMORROW!!!)--
into "Just Keep Thinking About You, Baby" (Tata Vega)
into "Think It Over" (Cissy Houston)
into "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" (Dan Hartman w/ Loleatta Holloway)
into "Harmony" (Suzi Lane)
into "I've Got The Next Dance" (Deniece Williams)
into "Feed The Flame" (Lorraine Johnson)
into "How High" (Cognac w/Salsoul Orchestra)
into "This Time Baby" (Jackie Moore)
into "Twenty-Four Hours a Day" (Barbara Pennington)
Graham complains that song is "too long" and leaves the dance floor. He also thinks he saw a Bear in attendance, so he's really on a "Bear Hunt".
Jeff (the perennial "Bad Boy") says we need "poppers"!!! I agree. We tell Keefe we'll be right back and run out to find some. We then start planning the "SpaceMusic/Popper Set" we will request when we return... (To Be Continued)... (We'll meet the rest of you later, rest assured... )

(Well I waited for someone else to take a turn...BUT, no takers, sooooo....)
Jeff & I make our way out of the old Studio 54 that Bernie has purchased with his billions (Goodbye "Cabaret") and plans to restore to a DISCO ONLY STATE-OF-THE-ART-CLUB ( There are plans for one on the West coast and one in Europe too. Can South America be far behind?) Nicky & Boodi & Lord Of Flatbush & DJ Phil & Mixmachine are among those hired for permanent rotating shifts. Jussi will fly in to do special "Euro-sleaze" evenings featuring images from his favorite Dario Argento films and the most obscure disco on the planet. Sirius & Giovanni will also jet in for special evenings of their classic tunes. Keefe and I even lure Bobby Viteritti out of DJ retirement for a special "Trocadero Transfer Revisited" party, so everyone can experience that special San Francisco "magic".
Sorry, I digressed. Back to the story.
Jeff and I make our way out into the balmy New York evening and find an adult book store where we make some "purchases"Back to our waiting cab and down to the Studio 54 party.
As we hit the dance floor, Nicky is just mixing out of "Twenty-Four Hours A Day" (Damn, maybe Graham IS RIGHT about that record, I say to myself. )
Keefe is up in the DJ booth, helping Nicky make "tasteful" choices in upcoming tunes. Keefe's next pick: "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" by Manhattan Transfer. Perfect for starting our "Space Disco/Popper Music" set!!!!
I give Nicky our list and we all hightail it back to the dance floor. I round up Graham and lure him back to the dancefloor with a chant of "Giorgio & Poppers & Bears OH MY!!!"and Nicky starts the next set with Giorgio's "Evolution" (my fave)....
into "Space Invaders" (Playback)
into "Supernature" (Cerrone)
(No matter what HE may tell you, ZECA DID NOT STOP DANCING)
into "The Night They Invented Love" - Noel
into "Over And Over" (Disco Circus)
into "Magic Fly" (Space)
into "Party Boys" (Foxy)
into "Beat The Clock" (Sparks)
into "The Eve Of The War" ("War Of The Worlds" - Jeff Wayne)
into "From Here To Eternity" ( Giorgio)
into "Fear" (Easy Going)
into "Follow Me" ( Amanda Lear) How Could I Forget That One??????
We danced until we were sopping wet. BREAKTIME!!!!!! "Let's get some drinks and rest for awhile, guys. Oh, and meet some of these folks from all around the world. There's Disco Disk....."
(Back for some "Morning Music" later. To Be Continued.....) Sorry, it's 4th of July and I haven't got a thing to do.

-Get down (Raydio) into

-Still in the groove (Raydio again) into
-It's alright (Gino Soccio) that one a loonngg steady mix!
Now I'm steppin' down with that blonde that came to the cabin looking for the name of the Evasions song (thanks Blax! I owe you a drink). Don't stop the groove!
Hey galera,
let's get the party goin'!
You are sooo sick - you even made me dance CERRONE - that's ok, TUDO É FESTA, it's party time!
Let me see those records here, hmmm. Has anyone seen my glasses 'round here? Hey, bring me a new bottle of french champagne, please!
Here's the songs I'll play for you to dance your asses off!!!
THE KLF & TAMMY WYNETTE - JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT (STAND BY THE JAMS) into
JIMMY SOMMERVILLE - READ MY LIPS into
NEW ORDER - TRUE FAITH into
ARETHA FRANKLIN - A DEEPER LOVE into

So come on, keep the party goin'!
zeca azevedo
P.S.: MARKY - YOU KNOW HOW TO PARTY, DON'T YOU? YOUR POSTS ARE G-R-E-A-T! (LOL)
The last tune fades out.
Lights come up on the stage. A thin blonde woman emerges from the wings. Anticipation mounts. The crowd is buzzing: "What now?" "Who's she?"
"Is it Agnetha from ABBA?" asks nrgbeat.
"Yeah, fat chance Bernie hauled her ass all the way from her castle in Sweden" Jeff intones sarcastically.
"Amanda Lear?" someone queries.
"Does she look like a man?" Graham snaps impatiently.
"Debbie Harry?" "Too thin."
"Andrea True?" "Too young."
"Vicki Sue Robinson? "Too alive."
I think I've got it. "Madleen Kane" I blurt out. "OOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh" everyone says in unison.
The lights brighten. But, the mystery lady starts to speak instead of sing.
Stepping up to the mike, she says, "Hi. I'm Leanmean. Bernie flew me up from Florida to party with all of you and to introduce a special guest DJ. Let's have a round of applause for Discomusic.com's favorite-- Mr. John Ceglia!!!!!!!!
We nearly plotzed!!! Leanmean, the former doyenne of the site, who one day after ruling the roost for over a year decided she had said everything she wanted to say and just retired, has just introduced the NY DJ who wowed us with his recent series of mixes on the site!
John's a real handsome guy. Jeff is drooling. "He's married AND straight", I say. elbowing Mr H., BUT I'm drooling too.Well, we can dream, can't we? John steps to the mike in the DJ booth, bowing for his applause, and says his set is a tribute to The Maestro of Disco and the Inventor of the Remix--Mr Tom Moulton!!!!
The gorgeous slow piano opening of "Where The Happy People Go" booms through the speakers.
"Heaven, I'm in Heaven" is the only thing I can utter.
The floor fills--as everyone remembers the power of this seminal disco hit and what it meant to them in 1976......
John then mixes into "Dr. Love" (First Choice)
into "Honey Bee/Never Can Say Goodbye/Reach Out" (Gloria Gaynor)
into "Devil's Gun" (C.J. & Co.)
into "I Need A Man" (Grace Jones)
into "Disco Inferno" (Trammps)
into "I Don't Need No Music" (TJM)
into "This Will Be A Night To Remember" (Eddie Holman) I LEVITATE ON THE DANCE FLOOR!!!
into "Put Yourself In My Place" (TJM)
into "Hold Your Horses" (First Choice)
into "The Greatest Show On Earth" (Metropolis)
into "Don't Leave Me This Way" (Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes)
into "Feel The Need" (Detroit Emeralds)
into "Love Sensation" (Loleatta Holloway)
into "Love Is The Message" (MFSB)
As the last note fades, a spotlight again hits the stage, and a handsome, dignified gentleman steps up to the mike and says "Hi, I'm Tom Moulton".
The room erupts into a roaring cheer. We rush up to the stage, screaming our love, respect and admiration for this man's accomplishments. And He's Still Here--standing in front of us!!!!!!!!
After what seems like five solid minutes of cheering and applause, Mr Moulton raises his hands for quiet and says "Thank-you. I have the distinct pleasure of introducing tonight's first guest performer...."
First guest performer???? How many secrets and surprises does Bernie have up his sleeve?????
(To Be Continued...feel free to pick up where I left off...or skip ahead, if ya don't wanna book the talent yourself.)
