Gwen McCrae, Paul Sabu CD reissues..

I was shopping online for some CDs and came across some info
on some upcoming disco (and post/pre-disco) reissues, thought some people here would be interested...

Warner Special Markets in the UK is reissuing Gwen McCrae's two Atlantic albums (Gwen McCrae and On My Way with the hits "Funky Sensation" and "Keep The Fire Burning," respectively) in "Remastered and Expanded" editions in Mid-July (One site says July 18)... I was wondering when they'd finally put these on CD, since original pressings can go for quite a bit on ebay these days!

Also, Gwen's 70's Cat/TK albums will also be reissued in 2-fer packages (Rockin' Chair/Something So Right, Let's Straighten It Out/Melody of Life). One site says Mid-August. This time compiled in the proper order.. Westside records in the UK had done 2-fer reissues of these albums in '99, but didn't pair the albums in the proper order..

Also getdisconnected will be is reissuing a lot of the Paul Sabu productions. With Debbie Jacobs' first album reissued, Debbie Jacobs second one "High On Your Love" as well as Ann-Margret's album, the Sister Power album as well as a Gwen Jonae collection..

Can't wait for all of these! Time to get the credit card out :P

How is the sound quality on these cd's? I vaguely remember they were some problems with these re-issues...

The Gwen McCrae cds were scheduled for release originally July then September last year but for some reason Warner Brothers Uk decided to pull these at the last minute.

I picked up the promo of that WB re-issue of 'On my way' last year. It has alternate versions of Keep the fires(3 I think), and also doin' it. At the time they also had the 'Gwen McCrae' with different mixes of Funky Sensation, one of which I think was about 7/8mins and called the 12" mix. I'm sure the 12" that came out was the same as the LP (don't quote me I could be wrong!)I wish I had picked that one up too!

Does this make these CD's rare now?
