    Summer sounds

Well summer has arrived in the UK. Yes, the beaches are packed, everybody out on Saturday night dressed in white with skin as red as a freshly boiled lobster, and heavy thundery
    deluges!!
So what are your fav summer sounds? What songs remind you of hot sultry nights?

    My little lot are;
Greg Diamonds Bionic Boogie - Hot Butterfly
Stephanie Mills - Whatcha gonna do with my lovin'.
Change - The very best in you.
Mary Jane Girls - All night long
Michael Wycoff - Do you really love me.
Alex O'Neal - Never knew love like this
    O'Jays - Backstabbers
    Floaters - Float on
Keni Burke - Risin' to the top
SOS Band - Just be good to me.

There's just one record for me, that reminds me of a very specific time and place. It was late June, it was sultry and the livin' was good.

Kool & The Gang - Summer Madness

When this record came on, it just seemed to sum it all up.........beautifully.

Good choices! And since Belgium is melting under temperatures that go to 35°C, here are some good soundtracks to that tropical sphere:

-Arpeggio: Let The Music Play, with that ravishing Mexican break.
-Santa Esmeralda: Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
-Boney M.: Hoorray, Hoorray It's A Holiday, sorry about that one!
-Ottawan: D.I.S.C.O., only for intellectual listeners!
-The whole Poussez album since to me that is such a strong reminder of the beautiful summer of '79.
    -La Bionda: Sandstorm, very exotic!

Non-Disco: Sueno Latino: Sueno Latino and Elkin & Nelson: Jibaro, the best balearic records ever IMHO.

    Re:Summer Memories

aaaaahhh yeah!(I Love memories) :D I can still see the fella's on the "corner" . it's about 8am Saturday morning and a humid 85 degrees...sipp'in the "rose",bang'in there boom boxes with funk....too the tunes of:

    Bill Summers,"Summers Heat Album.".
Ray Parker Jr. and Radio,"Those who like to Groove".
    Zapp,"More bounce to the Ounce".
There was also a tune called "Fun Time",I don't recall the group.

As far as Disco.......It's gotta be:
    Donna Summers,"Bad Girls"
    Foxy,"Get off"

Slow Jams ahhhh! chill'in at Belle Isle romanc'in and relax'in :D
    Atlantic Star,"Am I Dreaming".
Denise Williams,"Black Butterfly"(religious song, but It reminds me of my first love )

These tunes rocked the entire Summer. It's to bad that music has lost the importance of time..... you had Summer groups, Back to school Groups, Winter Groups, Beginning of Spring Groups.....you could'nt wait for the new Albums!

    Great Thread :D

Somehow it's GOT to be "Disco Carmen" by Disco Carmen - a c. 100 bpm grindhouse disco throbber with a pre-Malcom McLaren/Zeus B Held opera diva wailing the famous tune. Not to be confused with the later 12-incher of the same name, this original 45 came out in 1976 and was rejected by all but the most headstrong. My copy is long gone but the warped sound of it has never left my brain. Also: "Juanita Banana".

    It's 4am in the morning,
on a dance floor in 1977
about mid August. My shirt is off and tucked in my back pocket and the sounds
    of "Summer Love" by Musique
    comes through the speakers-
    a perfect moment in time....

Hello Guys! Summer time is indeed here!!! :) I was remembering the summer of 1975 when Van McCoy's
"The Hustle" was all over the charts! I remember how swiftly it swept up the charts to the #1 position! I remember the kids on Bandstand "loved" to dance to The Hustle...Such serious faces they had as they carefully counted out each step... I also remember how later that summer
    K. C. and The Sunshine Band made their debut with
"Get Down Tonight"...I played that 45 record over and over again until it actually turned white!!!!! The summer of '75 was one of my very, very favorite times ever!!!

Oh man! I list like this could go on forever! It's the late 70's and early 80's , and like 85 degrees(with no humidity) and some of the most memorable jams coming out of my portable radio/cassette player (..can you say "Emerson" or "York"....)while me and my fellas strolled the neighborhood (a "real" neighborhood, where Mrs. Fitchett across the street or Ms. Fuller around the corner, would whupp ya for doing wrong as quick as your own mother....)
Grey & Hanks - Dancin', Taste of Honey - Boogie Oogie Oogie, Pattie Austin - Say U love Me, Marvin Gaye - Got to Give it Up(everytime it came on the radio I was mad, 'cause I always wanted to hear "I Want U") lol, Denise Williams - Silly, Debra Laws - Very Special, Crusaders - Keep That Same ol' Feeling, Troiano - We All Need love, Harold Melvin - U Know how 2 Make me Feel Good, Andy Gibb - Love is Thicker Than Water, Commodores - Zoom, Enchantment - It's u that I Need, Venus Dodson - NightRider (which triggered my obsession for anything - "Patrick Adams") Narada Michael Waldon - I Should've loved U, Michael Zager - Let's All Chant, Supertramp - The Logic Song, Ace - How Long (Lipps Inc's, too), Kraftwerk - Trance Europe Express and Numbers.

........OK, I need to go make a CD now, lol. :) :) :)
