    Smokin' instrumentals

OK, I am just going through some CD's and just find me a gemm... Sandy Rivera and Jose Burgos "Jazz it". I didn't even know I had it...

And I mixed it straight into "Philadelphia" by Brooklyn Friends, another great instrumental.

Let me know what other tracks with a similar sound and feel come to mind? Do we call this Soulful Instrumental House? To me it follows straight into the tradition of MSFB, Salsoul and Montana in it's many incubations.

    House my friend......

A simple answer to that would be if the instruments used were electronically produced, then it's house. Although there are exceptions such as Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, etc. By the looks of things you are mixing old with the new. Have you tried? ----> the O'Jays - I Love Music (9:50). The song has a brief, but nice, drum intro.

    Don't let me be misunderstood

Sorry, I think I need to explain myself better...

No, I was not trying to mix the old with the new. I was trying to say that, to me, these two songs by Brooklyn Friends and Sandy Rivera/Jose Burgos respectively are direct "decendents" from Montana, Salsoul, Love Unlimited and MFSB.

And I was wondering if anybody can suggest any other instrumental crackers similar to these two. Some digging in my collection also produced:

    - "Groovin' " by Francois K
    - "Amazing love - David Morales Jazzy Instrumental" by Phil Perry (credits also to the incredibly talented Terry Burrus on piano... god, how I love his work on all Def Mix tracks. So instantly fantastic)
    - "Jazzy Mo" by David Morales & The Bad Yard Club
    - "Freedom - The **** mix by Frankie Knuckles" by Robert Miles
    - "Out of the storm - Morales Instrumental Mix by David Morales" by Incognito

Hmmm... I see a pattern emerging. Lush orchestration, real or synthesizered, piano and/or organ solo... More please :P
