Millie is amazing! One of the greats IMO.. Sassy and soulful, although she's more renowned for the former than for the latter..
I even enjoyed her latest album - Not For Church Folk  It's definitely centred around her sassy humour, but she manages to blend her sass and soul on a few tracks (Trying To Get You Back, Leave Me Alone)
I don't have all of her albums yet, but some of my faves from what I do have..
(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right
Summer (The First Time)
Loving Arms
Angel In Your Arms
If You're Not Back In Love By Monday
Never Change Lovers In The Middle Of The Night
Keep The Home Fires Burnin'
I Had To Say It
Somebody's Love Died Here Last Night
Too Easy Being Easy
I Feel Like Walkin' In The Rain
Hot! Wild! Unrestricted Crazy Love
When Are You Gonna Tell Your Woman (About Me)
Don't Want To Let Him Go/Let 'em Go
Trying To Get You Back
Leave Me Alone
to name a few
double post
but always enjoyed her sassy recordings (Linda Clifford's recordings bring back similar memories). And Millie Jackson made a hilarious guest appearance on "Martin" a few years back

Here's my only mildly Millie Jackson story George:
While attending SFSU , I was also working at a mega record store in the financial district of San Francisco .... a record store with three floors of music , plus the "ROCK ANNEX" store located next door , where I finally got transferred to and was quickly turning into the "DISCO " annex store :D .
Besides our own store there were two smaller competing record stores across the street on the same block, so we were quite a gathering place for music buffs. Plus on the corner was a big book store, the kind with constant in-store author signings . .. ( we also had in-store apprearances) and around the corner a musical instrument store with grand pianos, guitars and sheet music.
During the lunch hours and after 5 it got pretty crazy there ... imagine all those thousands of people arriving from all of those high rise office buildings .... a ton of fun.....
We had these massive store front windows and tall interior walls which were configured to hold albums in display patterns. For instance if there were a new ....ELTON JOHN lp.... you flooded the wall with the album cover to evoke excitement about this new release . This was using actual albums ( not empties or "flats" ) , we had three walls and the window to display ... ..the biggest wall rack was 10 albums across x 10 albums down ..so it alone took 100 albums from stock ..just for the display ..... since we got in hundreds of certain hot albums at a time it was no big deal .... amazing quantities ...... and sometimes an album was so hot , we wound up selling them off the wall display rack .
We'd often mix two albums into a display ... either because their colors could be used to make an intersting design ..... or because they related to each other somehow ....
soooo...... At the same time Grace Jones came out with an album that had on the back cover a llife sized profile of her head with her sticking out her tongue ( "PORTFOLIO"?? ) ....Millie Jackson came out with her "Feelin' Bitchy " LP. That cover , as you know , has her in a life sized frontal face shot .... also sticking out her tongue .
I mixed the two in some pattern and there in our window were the two ladies alternately sticking out their tongues.
It was a pretty good display... I thought ... ( still remember it  ) and when the owner came into town ( this was a chain) it caught his eye and he wanted to know who did it . Never did know if that was good thing or not ..... but I did move up within the company :D
That's the album by the way , where she sings about getting another log to put into the fire ... a bigger log that burns a lot longer .... not exactly my cup of tea ... but it was fun to be provocative, especially with our large clientele of men in suits ... and it seems like when we played it , it sold a lot of copies .... :P
That was that Mille Jackson , Denise LaSalle , Betty Wright , Yvonne Faire period when that saucy female angle was popular ....
:D
( and I wish I had seen her perform live.... great husky voice and I bet she really worked the room .... )

i saw millie loads of times, every chance i could, mainly in the mid 70s around the time of caught up/still caught up
she is one of my favourite live acts a great entertainer and great fun hilarious really.
i always got front row seats but lived in fear of her draging me on stage as she did with the guys for some laughs
she once tried saying something like 'hey you' :o but she must have seen the horror on my face and let me off!! she used to flirt and joke with the guys eat em alive really, the last time i saw her was in liverpool around 78 i was living in manchester at the time and had to leave early to get the last train back at midnight,i left it to the last minute and ran round the corner to the train and jumped on it panting and waited for it to pull out,i waited and waited and it left ONE HOUR LATE i was so mad
i love all her stuff and to occasionally pull out caught up and still caught up play them both and have a real treat, sometimes people who dont know anything about soul music ask me can you reccomend an album ideally id say 'the show must go on' sam dees but you have to go gently with these people,it never fails people always come back and say great! it happend last year with a guy i know both albums went round his office and everybody ended up buying them.
i love all her stuff but i love the dancers so for my favourites
BREAKAWAY- caused mayhem on soul train, 'the devil must have smmAAASHED YOUR MIND
A HOUSE FOR SALE- from the album free and in love, the story of an ended love affair and millie trying to sell the house fast to stop the memories 'did i hear somebody say one dollar' note this is a u.k only 7'' and a different version at that, an anthem for almost 30 years theyre dissapearing fast $40-$50 on e.bay now but price will only rise
MY MAN A SWEET MAN-part of growing up for me, love the u.k extended 12" from the early 80s
