    Questions about early disco

I'm looking for some old stuff. Circa 1972 like Date with the Rain, Got to get you back(Sons of Robin Stone), Dreamworld, Trammps, etc. The stuff we danced to in Super Star in Brooklyn. This stuff was before it was even called Disco. Thanks for any assistance. Hollywood, like you should.

This looks almost identical to my post asking for 1972 Disco songs. If you are not trying to fit a certain criteria, here are some that we danced to in 1972:

"Date With The Rain" Eddie Kendricks
    "Follow The Wind" Midnight Movers
"Girl, You Need A Change Of Mind" Eddie Kendricks
"I Can Understand It" Bobby Womack
"If You Love Me Like You Say You Love Me" Betty Wright
"I'll Bake Me A Man" Barbara Acklin
    "Love Train" The O'Jays (** true 4/4 disco **)
    "Wild Safari" Barrabas
    "Mr. Penguin" Lunar Funk
"One Night Affair" Jerry Butler (** true 4/4 disco **)
"Time To Get Down" The O'Jays
"(Win, Place or Show) She's A Winner" The Intruders (** true 4/4 disco**)
    "Woman" Barrabas
    "Your Song" Billy Paul
"Zing! Went The Strings of My Heart" Trammps
    "Soul Makossa" Manu Dibango
    "I'll Be Around" The Spinners
"Love and Happiness" Al Green (also a First Choice version)
"Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" The Temptations
"Feel The Need In Me" The Detroit Emeralds
"Theme From The Men" Isaac Hayes
"This Is The House Where Love Died" First Choice
"Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" The Spinners
"Ain't No Love Lost" Patti Jo
"Little Bit Of Love" Brenda and the Tabulations
    "We The People" Soul Searchers
"I Like What I Like" Everyday People
    "Think (About It)" Lyn Collins

I am sure there are others and know of a few from 1971 ("Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys" by The Equals, "Harlem" by Bill Withers, "Sultana" by Titanic, "The Breakdown" by Rufus Thomas, "Theme From Shaft" by Isaac Hayes, etc...) and a lot from 1973. Let us know "exactly" what you are looking for

Volume ONE would seem to interest you more than Volume two (but I may be wrong). Both items are reviewed briefly on THIS site and link you to www.amazon.com where you may purchase copies (The discs are out of print).
Also, check around for the MANY Various Artists compilations available. You NEVER know what may be on them....till you LOOK.

    Questions about early disco

Thanks to Huffstutler and DonaldCleveland for some helpful responses. I'm starting to get warm as far as the collection of music I'm looking for. Also, Huffstutler, exactly what I'm looking for is much of what you provided. Those 1971 songs are definitely part of the collection I want to gather. Please include a list of 1973 songs you refer to and why can't I seem to find Got to Get You Back by Sons of Robin Stone? Thanks, and isn't it great to have such a forum to discuss these issues? Long live technology! Hollywood, like you should.

I remember this record was always very elusive for me , even back then in the mid 70's, don't remember if I have the original 1975 Atco, in any case I stopped looking when this 1976 Disco-Trek (Atlantic SD 18118) compilation edited by Tom Moulton was released in '76 with a 4:32 version included, maybe you can find it in used stores or Ebay, don't know about any CD, all cuts are Pre- Disco classics, Jackie Moore's "Time", Blue Magic's "Look me up" Valentino's "I can understand it" Sister Sledge's "Mama never told me" and others.....

Here is a great list that should take you down memory lane...
