Could you answer me a question please

I live within travelling distance of Manchester and was wondering what is the scene like for Disco music (70's and Underground style) ?
I know there seem to be a lot of fans based in and around, but I presume that I would have to venture down to the Village area ? Not being Gay myself I am not sure how well straights would be welcomed ?

If you can PM me with an idea of any 'safe' places to go to hear these classic tunes I would very much appreciate it
