    Nina Simone disco track(s)?

Is it true, did the legendary Nina ever do a dance tune or two - or indeed a whole no frills disco album? A reasonably well informed and dependable connection from The United Kingdom recently phoned me and said: I heard something I bet you never heard and swore a friend played him cuts from a Nina Simone disco lp. While I suspect he was actually talking about the poppy "Baltimore", a 1978 realese from CTI, he could be right as all sorts of things were recorded but not necessarily widely distributed back in the seventies - take the Frank Sinatra disco thing for example!

The only track that received any kind of disco action that I know of was My Baby Just Cares For Me which was picked up on in the UK by some of the 'Soul Mafia' DJs. Don't ever remember reading about anything else.

However, I'm pretty sure that some of her stuff has been played by the London based Jazz DJs over the years.

No, we all know THAT tune, what with the tv ads and all - I'm talking about actual d-i-s-c-o?

Soreeeeee!   And of course so does everyone else who might read this?

It's reasonable to assume that she may have tinkered with D-I-S-C-O during its heyday. Every other Jazz artist did, especially CTI ones.

I don't think she made genuine Disco. She was embraced by the House community with songs like "Sealine woman" that featured her classic vocals on a deep beat but I don't recall that she has made Disco or Dance herself.

    Nina Simone

I know this isn't 'disco' but there was a Felix da Housecat remix of 'Sinnerman' off the 'Verve remixed' cd last year.

Thankyou Davicillo & Videoskooter! :P I heard a 'handbaggy/house' type track last year on the radio featuring Nina Simone's vocals & of course the DJ didn't say what it was called as usual. I thought it was a really good track so I'm hoping it's one of the 2 tracks you guys just mentioned. Many thanks again.

    Nina Simone

Sandradee, I wondering whether the track you heard was Huff & Herbs track 'Feeling good'. Basically it was a handbaggy housey track that came out in 1997 and it was remixed in 1998.
It samples the Nina Simone track 'Feeling good'.
