    Polnareff

During the past days I've been listening a lot to Michel Polnareff's "Lipstick" track. Now, I know he's a French chansonnier and that this gorgeous piece of musique comes from the OST "Lipstick".

Since I don't have that album: is the rest on it also Disco? Has he made other stuff like this that I'm not aware of?

Greetings from 35° Celsius aka tropical Belgium

Lipstick was the only decent Disco track on the album.

The definitive version of Lipstick was one on the 7" vinyl copy. Much better than on the album, IMO.

Thx Q. Is your preferred version the one on the Disco Connection CD?

No, the 7" had a much better version on it. Better edit, more ballsy sound.

Quinny is right :D , the version on the Disco Connection CD is the regular 7” Side A, Part II on the 7” is a much better edgy stripped down version, not as polished as side A, the flute (?) theme in the regular version is not allowed to play through here, it is broken down in two parts and used in a “Stab” mode, similar to what a DJ would do during live mixing, there is also some reverb and/or effects added, especially during the strings crescendo sections, this mix also makes the synthesizer more prominent as it is pushed up front and the Sax solo portion is completely eliminated, I can’t find my !2” version now, so I don’t remember if this Part II mix is included, but I doubt it, simply because it is the same length as the CD and 7”, but I can't tell for sure.....

It's almost like chalk and cheese, the difference between Part I and Part II. Part I was semi-lame, Part II really rocked. Shame that Disco Connection CD didn't get the right version onto it. That would have made the CD worth its money, just for the one track, IMO.

I'm finding many CD compilations are putting out mixes/versions which aren't the definitive ones. What a pity.
