Cece Peniston and Arrested Development.
They are running ads of the U.S. version on NBC; wherein over-the-hill pop stars compete for a chance to get a new "hit"!!!
Among the names they are teasing as future guests:
Vanilla Ice
Loverboy
Tiffany
The Knack
Air Supply
Wang Chung
A Flock Of Seagulls
& Irene Cara!!!!

There were some more...but that's what I remember!!!![]()
Cece Peniston and Arrested Development.
named after a Britney Spears song seems doomed from the outset
Air Supply came to play in Argentina a few times during the nineties. I interviewed them on their first visit, more than a decade ago. They were so full of themselves... And the high-pitched vocalist was soooo sissy! :D
"'Lost in love' is the best love song I've ever heard" (quote) :o
The problem with Air Supply was that they did too many power ballad songs and never changed their style. It got old quick.
Tiffany made it to the final of the UK version. Shalamar should've won but came second to Shakin' flippin' Stevens. :( I really do despair with the British public's taste!
Here's hoping that Amanda Lear's on the next series! :D
Add Billy Ray Cyrus ("Achy Breaky Fart") Tommy Tutone ("867-5309") and Cameo ("Word Up") to the roster of show #1.![]()
I always liked Larry's red cod piece. :oOriginally Written by markydefad

Here's a few others they should have on:
Charlene
The Poppy Family
Shannon
Yvonne Elliman
Nick Gilder
A Taste of Honey
Toni Basil
Soft Cell
I reckon it was fixed SandraDee. Shaky wasn't even surprised that he'd won. And what's up with his hair? It's still jet black at his age. I'll call him Casey Kasem in future.Originally Written by SandraDee
Reborn in the USA was also fixed IMO. Tony Hadley was so cock sure that he was gonna win. And didn't deserve too. BTW, It hasn't done anything for his 'career' in the US has it. Michelle Gayle should've won.
well I got my DVR ready to go!!! a similar show was aired on MTV last year... instead it was finding these artists and having them do a live show... it was so cool. I think I started a topic on it... nobody replied tho..
Love to see 'A flock of seagulls' now!!! LOL!
that was enjoyable to see
CECE PENNISTON
actually good to see all of them in action again....
I thought Flock of Seagulls was the worst of the lot.
Mike Score who had the famous hairdo now wears a baseball cap constantly.

I agree that Michelle Gayle was alot better & I also thought the guy from Go West had a good voice (& was quite dishy); hell, even Dollar are far better than Tony Hadley with his voice that could peel paint fron 100 yards! :o
Is Tony Hadley the guy from Spandau Ballet? The name is familiar but I can't quite place him.
That's the guy. i always thought Spandau's stuff would've been better with a different vocalist; just my opinion!
it was all the bitchin all the fightin and all the tears in the dressing room between dollar and sonia that won the show for me  as for their singin... who cares
Yes, that was the highlight DD! :P
Arrested Development won the first American version.![]()
Loverboy, Cece Peniston, A Flock Of Seagulls & Tiffany did not. :P
Cece was good (I always gravitate towards the black Divas)..but Arrested Development were quite original and had two excellent black female vocalists singing with them...not Dionne Farris from the original group, I don't think.
The Flock of Seagulls guy in his baseball cap and long ponytail hanging out the back -- looked like that obnoxious workout infomercial guy, is his name Tony???? I know that dude is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Leif Garrett bald with the ponytail trying to fool us like Andre Agassi used to do with the headbands. :P
the part I enjoyed was when they showed the artists in their homes, I always like that. It was also nice that the artists were donating their winnings to charity. But the direction of the show was what I had a problem with. Each artist was only allowed to perform a tiny snippet of their best known songs, much of the music sounded canned to me, and dear God, so many annoying commercials! On the subject of the postings here regarding Air Supply, it's true they could have been a bit more versatile, but I still enjoy songs like "Lost in Love" and "All Out of Love" as long as I don't hear them too often (they often remind me of the group called Bread). And here's a note for disco fans: Air Supply actually did an album produced by Chic's Bernard Edwards, though as I recall, it sure wasn't disco but did have an uptempo song or two.
I couldn't believe Vanilla Ice won this week. :-?
I thought either The Knack or Tommy Tutone would get it.
Are you kiddin', nrg???? It seemed so obvious to me that the kidz was diggin' Vanilla Ice-- as soon as he was done with the second number--I was sure he was the winner. In truth, the new cover versions by the others were pretty weak.
The lineup:
The Knack ("My Sharona" then Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl")
Haddaway ("What Is Love" (what else?) then Britney's "Toxic")
Tommy Tutone (867-5309 (what else?) then Blink-182's "All The Small Things")
The Motels ("Only the Lonely" then a rocker version of Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why")
Vanilla Ice (Ice Ice Baby" then a rappy version "Survivor" inspired by Destiny's Child, I guess)
DA KIDZ LUVZ DA RAP!!!
Next week--NO RAPPERS!!!! :P :P :P :P
I saw Irene Cara, Howard Jones...and my mind has drawn a blank on the rest of the lineup...some were the names in the early posts mentioned here.
Oh, Cameo and I think Wang Chung are on next week also.
