    Crazy Frog Hype

Well, I really can't post this item in a music topic! Next weekend Britain's number one selling single will be "Crazy Frog" from German group "Bass Bumpers" and it will defeat "Speed Of Sound" the new one from Coldplay.

What's this all about? "Crazy Frog" is in fact a very ennoying ringtone, sold as a ringtone ( it imitates the sound of a small motorbike), till some crazy producers turned it into a novelty dance record (they mixed it with "Axl F" from Harold faltermeier).

Now,it's raining complaints by British listeners and the makers of that particular ringtone have already apologized that they made it. 150.000 copies are already sold :o

Sorry, if you heard it you WILL understand that I don't post this news in a music-section

They've been advertising this ringtone on TV for a while here. May seem cute the first time around but after that it's just plain annoying

    And now there's a new one...Crazy DJ Frog..or something

Strange thoughts lurking in my head... Do you guys think the future for producers/composers for hire will be on doing ringtones instead of songs?
Even jingles sound like a better "career move"...

Maybe I'm getting old but what's the hype with all those ringtones anyway???? I'm just using the standard tone and I get very ennoyed by some of the commercial ones.

Very popular in Belgium are the animal sounds like cows and birds. Horrible. You are walking the streets and suddenly you here a cow behind your back and you would want to run as hell.

MMh, maybe I have to look for "Disco Duck", hahahahaha!

    Hey Videoskooter,
I know what you are saying, I used to live in Belgium (Antwerp), those ringtones are horrible... I had to get out of the country...
    :D Where are from?
I dig your record collection, it's good to see another disco addict from the home country...

    Cheers...

It is quite surprising how kids in the UK have rejected the CD-single as a complete ripoff, but will pay £3 for a ringtone.

    Dirk,
I live very close to Antwerp myself. Such a beautiful city! Why did you go to Malta? ( yeah, ok, the weather probably :D )

Antwerp's still very cool and Discofied you know ( together with Gent and Brussels). Excellent clubs and shops. If you come back one day, go shopping in the Kammenstraat, you will get a 70's flashback. Very trendy and groovy. And if you come in the next few weeks, we are on the Sinksenfoor (Eastern Funfair) right now!

    Groeten,
    Johan

    Hey Johan,
I had to read several post including yours to get a better undertanding of crazy frog. Well, I'm either out of touch with the trends or this fad is not happening here or at least in Southern California.
    What makes Malta so nice?

    Thanks Video,

When I come to Antwerp (twice or three times every year...) I dig into the crates of the "Record Collector' ,the record shop behind the 'Groenplaats'... It is literally a labyrinth of records... You'll get lost...

I hear there's a new club open on the 'eilandje' called Blase... Have you checked it out yet?

I used to live 2 years in Ghent, and three years in Brussels, so pretty much know what I am missing... GREAT MUSIC!!!

I moved here, for personal reasons...

Note: Isn't there a PM service on this board or something?

Great meeting you, take care... 8)

Actually I live in village just next to Birkirkara...called Balzan...

It's definitely a great island, just too bad I have to turn to the net if I want to get 'Discotized...'

    Dirk,

"Blasé" is not a real club, it's an event and it takes place in the "La Riva" club, Londenstraat 52 in Antwerp. I haven't visited it yet but I know Tom De Neef and Olivier Abbeloos are residents there so you know that it's techno-trance stuff.

I'm sorry to hear you say that...
I have to agree Tom De Neef sucks big time, but Olivier Abbeloos is one of Belgium most respected House Dj's... He was resident in LaRocca, Fill Collins, always playing that Deep Disco House stuff... Also check out his productions under the alias Conga Squad, all of them are Deep and Disco...
Also the othe resident in Blase, Mario Le Blanc is known for his continious groove and Disco flavoured music...
After FCC closed, Belgium definitely needs another high-standard house-music club...

When I'm in Belgium I always visit Stereo Sushi and Cafe d'anvers... 8)

Olivier is a good DJ. I think you got me wrong. But the over all atmosphere in Blasé is Techno.

Next time you visit Café D'anvers, wear a Malta-T Shirt so I can recognize you

    On topic:

Comment by Chris Martin from the defeated Coldplay:"If I ever meet this crazy frog in person, I chop of his legs and eat them"

I guess the guy is not too happy about it but sees the comedy factor in all this. He's married to Gwyneth Paltrow and his kid has the name Apple, so he must have a sense of humour.
