Hey Vishnu. That song was very very popular in the clubs. Nine times out of 10, the crafty djs remixed and played mostly the instrumental breaks along with the laugh portion of that song. I would check for cds with dj remixes. Also, check around Prelude/KISS Mastermixes. I don't know if they did Situation but it's worth a quick check.
The Francois K "dub" mix on the flip of the US 12" is mostly instrumental. This is also the mix which has Moyet's giggle (mostly) isolated, and as such, was sampled into just about every dance track in the late 80s and early 90s.
This mix finally appeared on CD a few years ago, when Mute put out a Yaz(oo) compilation and churned out a boatload of remixes to promote it. It was included on one of the CD singles.
In Argentina there was this local dance label called Gapul (still in print) which released club tracks on their own compilations. Sometimes they weren't the original versions but cheap re-recordings; sometimes they issued the originals under other names (you can guess my troubles looking for those songs on CD). I remember the "Situation" instrumental remix (with Alison's giggles) being issued by these guys as "Shake it up". I don't remember the name of the "artist" (it was not credited to Yazoo nor Yaz). It's a long track, like 8 minutes long.
Check it out: maybe it was originally released under that name, but it was more probably a trick of the local label to avoid paying publishing rights.
