    Original Press vs Re-issue Press

Other than collectable reasons....why would one prefer a
    Original Press(Vinyl) over a later Re-issue/or Re-press(Vinyl)?

In otherwords why would I pay say $35.00  for a Very Good Original instead of $12.00 for a Mint/or New copy Re-press?

Help me out wit' some pros & cons.

    Thanks

If I could afford the price for a litography by Chagall over a poster of the same painting I would go for the "original" without beeing a collector. (If I liked Chagall that is).

There is also a greater chance that you sometime could get your money back (maybe with interest) buying the original.

There are 4 Levels of record issuance:

    1. ACETATE
    2. TEST PRESSING
    3. PROMOTIONAL COPIES
    4. STORE ISSUE

I would say if it's DOLLAR value your looking for then the first 2 you should strive for.If it's a variety of tracks I would say 3/4,however some re-issues contain a Bonus track, that are not on the original tracks,i.e. MARTIN CIRCUS-DISCO CIRCUS,great original Track, the re-issue on UNI-DISC DISCO CIRCUS MEDLY,is MIND BOGGLING.

    Hope this helped some :D :D :D

For me it would be one of 2 things...

    1. Collecting: For sentimental reasons... it's of more value (to me) to have the original pressing... even if it's VG- or lower.

    2. I'll even buy the re-pressing just for the hell of it... because it would in some cases be cheaper depending on where you buy it.

another example is if we are showing the record here at this site... it's beneficial to see the original.
