Mix,
I finally got around to adding this record to the Disco Vault with times, label and cover scans. It's at http://www.discomusic.com/records-more/5900_0_2_0_C/
I was looking for something else and came across this old Euro Disco 5 Track 12” import I remember playing but never receiving to much attention then, I don’t even remember when exactly this came out, (early 80’s ?) and the record is no help, no writers or producers either, it was released on Down Beat Records ('Promotion for subscribers use only' it says)out of Netherlands I believe.

Does any one knows anything about this group? or was this a re-mix service?
The cut “World tune” (European remix, 136 BPM) is very nice, strictly instrumental with shades of Cerrone (Super Nature) and Constandinos styled orchestration with lead synthesizer performing a beautiful melody, after this one it segues into a great funky piece “Electric Light” (118 bpm), funky techno bass, nice girly vocals with bongos resembling “Soul Makossa” , acoustic piano, etc, on the flip there is “Disco Down” according to a search apparently this one was released in the UK on 12” , the girls are back on this one again with nice instrumentation and break, but the last cut is the one I like best now, “Love Express” (128 Bpm) similar to Ultimate and Tangerue, with great synch work and string section, and it features a great alto sax at the end too, those that like beautiful instrumental Disco should try to find this one.. and play it loud!

i think it has something to do with peter slaughis (sp?) there was a recent rerelease of some funkhawks stuff.. i know they sold it at flexx.be, but i just looked and i couldn;t find it..
i think they know alot about that stuff at cbs.nu
I’m honored you decided to include my rambling description in your entry  I never knew any details about this record and I still don’t remember ever playing “ite Missa est” before the FunkHawks, I’ll have to refresh my memory and check my prelude LP (I think it is the double 12”) which is not here at the time, I did play “Disco circus”.
Under you description for the Group “Disco Circus” you say not to confuse them with Martin Circus, well, I always did confuse both the music and the Group’s name, I though Martin did “Over and Over”
Bernie, do you know who did the other originals in this remix LP?
Mix,
I only recognized the Martin Circus track. Not really thrilled with the songs on the A-side though.
I recently got this one, and did some digging..
track 1: 'Disco Down' = Number One Ensemble - Down To The Disco
track 2: 'Turn Me On' = ??
track 3: 'Love Express' = think a track called: Mr. Love
track 4: 'World's Tune' = Martin Circus - Ite Missa Est (as already know)
track 5: 'Electric Light' = Electric Mind - Summing Up
Anybody knows 2 & 3?
Edit: just noticed that this one is in the wrong group :icon_rolleyes:
