I just found this 12", Boney M & Bobby Farrell with The School Rebels, Happy Song, 1984 Carrera Records.

Is this the same Boney M from the 1970's?

Yes and no. Bobby left Boney M in 1982 because he wasn't happy anymore with the way Frank Farian produced the group. In 1984 he went back in the studio with Frank to record "Happy Song". Soon after that he rejoined Boney M till 1986 when the group split into 2 Boney M's.
