let the night take the Blame

I have 3 different versions of this superb HINRG track

    1) Lorraine McKane - An absolute gem
    2) Earlene Bentley - Rare find on Rise records 12" 1986
    3) 501`s which I have on a HOT compilation CD - The actual vocal sounds suspiciously like UK dance/soul singer PRINCESS !?

Great song indeed, but I only knew of the Lorraine McKane version. Will have to dig this one out again later tonight.

You are quite right Bernie - it a a great HINRG track - Lorraine also recorded another song called "You make me feel brand new" - It was only available in the UK on a White label test pressing 12"...I dont think it ever got a domestic release...

I never knew there were other performers of the song besides Lorraine McKane. My favorite mix was the DISCONET version on Volume 7, Program 6. I'd love to hear the Earlene Bentley version.

The Earlene Bentley version is great. She is a great singer who nowadays stars in many London west end musicals/plays.
her version of the song was released in the UK in 1986 - very hard to find nowadays..

Lorraine's version used to be a fixture in my record bin, I used to play "pretty" music sets in some clubs into the 80's, even after the music had drastically changed, I remember mixing this one with "I like it" by Phillis Nelson and Violla Wills stuff.. I think that box still is intact in the warehouse :o

Never heard Bentley's either, just found another one by her I played "I'm Living my own Life" on TVI,written by Ian Levine..

Im Living my own life is a personal favourite and was a regular on my playlist... I also have the US remix on a remix LP - I actually prefer the US remix to the original...
Do you remember the Bentley track "I GOT YOU COVERED" which was released on Nightmare records in 1987.

Energyguy, I just looked again here for this one, but no luck, :( I may have it in the warehouse, but I honestly can't remember so many of this records :( unless I have them in front of me and give then a fresh spin, but I found "The Boys come to town" (around midnite) on Megatone Records which I used to play a lot and had forgotten also :( this one was/is great for mixing with similar sounding stuff from '83, especially Hazell Dean's "Searching.." and Miquel Brown "So many Man" ....

I'm Living My Own Life was brilliant I agree but my favourite Earlene B track is Caught In The Act; possibly Levine's finest moment IMO.

I'm not aware of it but if they did I bet it improved the original 'cos Levine's stuff usually benefits from a remix!

I have an LP called RECORD SHACK PRESENTS... Volume 3 and it has various remixes, including the US remix of Im Living my own life - which is far better then the UK mix... The US remix of Eastbound Expressway`s "rainstorm" is far better than the normal UK club mix...

Same goes for Eastbound Expressway's 'Knock Me Senseless' from '86; Mani Lehman's US remix is so much better!
