    No way!

P.S. I like the other labels too! But, of course Motown had the most part of the "brighter" stars on black music.

Agreed. But, Atlantic is in the second place to me.
Anyway, I said "Motown had the most part", not "Motown had all of them".

    Peace.

    Hey SUTNOP,

In fact, most music fans think that MOTOWN is the most important label in the history of BLACK MUSIC, but ATLANTIC is more important than BERRY GORDY's corporation. The guys on ATLANTIC RECORDS began to release R&B classics in the 40's. MOTOWN began in the end of the 50's highly influenced by the sounds of the artists that recorded for ATLANTIC (RAY CHARLES, THE DRIFTERS, RUTH BROWN, LAVERN BAKER, THE COASTERS, SOLOMON BURKE and others). SOUL MUSIC began in ATLANTIC RECORDS with RAY CHARLES - I think this is enough to hold the place for ATLANTIC as the most important BLACK MUSIC label ever. I'm saying this and I'M A HUGE MOTOWN FAN.
About the list: sure I can do a list with ATLANTIC classics just for you:

    SOLOMON BURKE - PARTY PEOPLE
ARTHUR CONLEY - WHOLE LOTTA WOMAN
    BETTY WRIGHT - BABYSITTER
    KING FLOYD - GROOVE ME
WILSON PICKETT - GET ME BACK ON TIME, ENGINE NUMBER 9
    ARETHA FRANKLIN - ROCK STEADY
    DONNY HATHAWAY - THE GHETTO
BEGINNING OF THE END - FUNKY NASSAU
    SWEET INSPIRATIONS - THIS WORLD
SISTER SLEDGE - MAMA NEVER TOLD ME
    THE SPINNERS - MIGHTY LOVE
PHILLIPE WYNNE - GIRL YOU'RE ALL I NEED
BLUE MAGIC - LOOK ME UP
THE TEMPTATIONS - IT'S TIME FOR LOVE (YES, IT'S ATLANTIC, NOT MOTOWN)
CHIC - I WANT YOUR LOVE
T.S. MONK - HOT NIGHT IN THE CITY
ROBERTA FLACK & DONNY HATHAWAY - BACK TOGETHER AGAIN
AVERAGE WHITE BAND AND BEN E. KING - A STAR IN THE GHETTO
CAROLE KING - ONE TO ONE

    That's it for now. Peace.

    Hey SUTNOP,

I'd love to say THANK YOU to mr. ROGERS - unfortunately, mr. EDWARDS, one of the greatest bass players pop music ever had - died a few years ago. We'll never forget him or his music, for sure.

About ATLANTIC RECORDS: yes, it's true, ATLANTIC RECORDS was founded by 2 turkish brothers, AHMET and NESUHI ERTEGUN. Why they founded a black music label in AMERICA? Because they love R&B and JAZZ and think that AMERICA should pay attention to these musical styles. The guys are legendary and their work is priceless.

    Peace,
