"Love Insurance" by Front Page (Sharon Redd). This track is a big fave of mine, but never gets the respect it deserves.
What is the most underrated disco track in your opinion?
"Love Insurance" by Front Page (Sharon Redd). This track is a big fave of mine, but never gets the respect it deserves.
I have this Bernie but must admit i have never really played. However, i do love Sharon Redd. Gonna search for it and have a listen this week.

One that comes to mind for me is Fat Larry's Band, Lookin' For Love. Love it in the discos though I mostly heard it in Connecticut. Rarely heard it anywhere else.
Looking for Love is a heavy weight track. i still play it regularly on a Saturday Night in downtown Nottingham..absolute killa...

Maybe I didn't go to the right clubs in Boston. Glad to see it was popular in England. :DOriginally Written by discofresh
Paul, "Looking For Love" was huge in NYC-even on the radio. Surprised it didn't get much airplay over the border in CT.
I love "love Insurance"(which went top 10 disco)and I also
love the flip "you got my love"-both benefit from awesome
mixes and Redd's passionate vocal.But for me,what I feel
is underrated now is the entire Watson Beasley album.Again
a top 5 hit at the time, but not enough people mention this
in their fave lists.Starting with the first 12" promo of
"what's on your mind/don't let your chance go by" and then
the remix of "breakaway" is enough to merit ANY type of
mention. But what really takes this one over the top for me is
the Lp tracks of "darlin'I"and"bodyfree"-check it out,you won't be sorry. Also,of note:the exotic African Suite lp on MCA,Jean
Carn's elegant 1st lp on Philly Int with the well known "free
Love" but for me it's "if you wanna go back" and "time waits for
no one" that send me to another place.Love this thread...I could keep going....

There are many, but for personal reasons, I must select
PRECIOUS MOMENTS -- Nightlife Unlimited
I think that with a good extended mix, this song would have been a hit. Very pretty keyboards about 2/3 way through.
There were many albums that contained tracks that were never played......excuse my nomadic intellect on the titles and names of the tracks, but to name a few groups that had underplayed hot disco tracks on them/ or I would have to say some of the secondary tracks from these groups were very underated like:
Brass Construction :D
Creative Source :D :D
Dennis Coffee(and the Detroit City Band) :D :D
West Coast Mob(LRJ Funk) :D
Average White Band :D :D
One Way(Al Hudson)
Herbie Hancock(with the single that Ray Parker Jr. jammed on)
BT Express. :D
Was Not Was. :D
These groups had many non-played secondary tracks that were considered Disco during the "Funk" and Disco" era.

Take your point with nitelife unlimited. Solid groover.
Super D, would be interested to know what Brass contruction track you had in mind that would fit the bill

The complete A-side of the Madleen Kane album "Cheri". It didn't do a damn thing in our clubs or charts and it was almost unavailable in the shops over here. Even now you can't find a damn thing of this diva in Belgium. And no, I don't have that album
I wish more people were faimiliar with:
The Greatest Show On Earth - Metropolis
Dancing Is Dangerous b/w The Night They Invented Love - Noel
Make Me Believe In You - Patti Jo
This Will Be A Night To Remember - Eddie Holman
Stars In Your Eyes - Herbie Hancock w/ Gavin Christopher
Perhaps it was big where I was but the cannabis back in the day kept me from noticingOriginally Written by Bernie
"Don't YOu Love It" Maxine Singleton
"I Specialise In Love" Sharon Brown
...among many others I can't think of at the mo.
I reckon Harry Thuman's - Underwater never got anything like the recognition it truly deserved. That record was a lighting guy's/gal's dream as well as one of hell of a ballsy, solid Disco opus, that never failed to garner queries from punters.
I was very closeted in the "Disco days" but i still managed to catch some bad ass songs on 94 disco Fm. One song that I really loved but never hear too much about is "Undercover Lover" by Debbie Jacobs. Her voice is so soulful.
"markydefad" I feeling you on Herbie Hancock,"Stars in your eyes" :D :D :D :DOriginally Written by markydefad
Did Ray Parker Jr. perform on the 12''version(possibly keyboards)

God there are fucking 100s of records that never got the attention they deserve; I s'pose in some weird way that's what makes them more interesting. :-?
Thank God, the side "A" suite of "Cheri" was played nightly in Atlanta at the club I frequented in 1979. It was very popular, and I'm glad that the sheer brilliance of that masterpiece was appreciated. I recall seeing it on the Billboard Dance Charts that summer, but I agree that most of Madleen Kane's classics are vastly under-rated.Originally Written by Videoskooter
Yeh Boogie Badness check out the album, Brass Construction VI the track was ,"Help Yourself"......nice "mellow funk" Disco trackOriginally Written by discofresh

How bout
Norma Jean Wright-I like love from the 1978 LP. This was never a single but was recently re-made as a house tune last year
Player - Space Invaders, released on Ariola Records, 1979.
Ok, you will say it was released towards the end of the craze but it's still a thumper.
You guys mentioned some really great songs specially Madleen Kane's Cheri (look for single version of Forbidden Love..great) and Love Insurance. May I add:
- Soul by Frankie Valli
- One of a kind by Donna Summer
- Take me in your arms by Stephanie Mills & Teddy
Pendergrass
- Prison by Space (actually most their work is underrated)
- This time baby by Jackie Moore
- Disco mix of Follow Me by Amanda Lear (a killer, everyone
knows the single but not many heard this version)
Oh there are so many..
