I must agree with Videoskooter. Disco Inferno IS the anthem of Disco!
I know we've had this topic before and I think Disco Inferno really is the best choice Johan.
I also like Aint No Stopping Us Now, Staying Alive, and Boogie Oogie Oogie as anthems.

While I agree with all posters,I believe '' HEAVEN MUST BE MISSING AN ANGEL - Tavares needs to be hear as well.
Chic - Good Times?
Disco (That's Where the Happy People Go) The Trammps!!
“Turn the beat around" Vickie Sue Robinson, many others would qualify for me, but this song has all the Disco ingredients under the hood....
Sylvester's - You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)
:D
i agree for "Turn the Beat around". I used this song for one of my Discolounge flyers
about a Disco Anthem, i think of
"Souvenirs" of Voyage
It s true that Trammps "Disco Inferno" is timeless to make people move... Some disco fans often asked me "you make me feel" at the end of the party. There are so much of them !

"...Just like the days of, stompin' at the Savoy...Oh what a joy..."

I would say, Donna Summers,"Bad Girls" :) .....this is the tune that perpetuates the meaning of Disco.....The repetitiveness of live bass rhythms, the prosody of sophisticated words, the enjament and syncopation of wording to fit the rythms, sexuality, and most of all.... the quality or state of being independent, free, and self directive.
My choice :D :D :D.... to toot.... ahhhh.... beep beep.

For me and I respect everyone elses opinion, BUT the Begees "Staying Alive". Is the song that will always be associated with bringing in the DISCO era!
It commercialized the disco era :cry:Originally Written by JoseVaso01
"Diiiiiiiiiiiissss-Cooooooh--That's where the happy people go!!" gets my vote. :D :D :D :D
Good Times would be my runner-up. :D :D
For me, one record that sums up the 'disco' era/genre is 'In The Bush' by Musique. It just epitomises the carefree attitudes, fun, sexuality & glamour all set to a demented 4/4 beat & Patrick Adams' charming production with 'disco chix' chanting along. It never fails to make me feel good & really makes me wish I was 10 years older & living in NYC or some glamorous city in '78 so i could visit a fabulous nightclub & hear it over an expensive sound system surrounded by fun-loving hedonists! 8) :P
Difficult choice. I also did think of The Trammps Disco Inferno, but its inclusion on the Saturday Night Fever album does it no favours. Sylvester's You Make me Feel is on the shortlist but I think the record that I feel epitomises Disco is: -
Saturday Night Band - Come On and Dance, Dance
All good choices in my book (isn't any Donna is there?) although I'd have to give an honourable mention to
Bohannon - Let's Start the Dance
Caroline Crawford's vocals have sooooo much emotion, soul, joy and gawd knows what else oooooozing all over the track and the rhythm track is sooooo hard and propulsive. WOW!!!!!
It's a real 'get on the floor, make a noise and rip it up' sorta record.
Hey yooooooo, I'm talkin' ta yoooo
well, since no one mention my runner up..
"I love the Night life" Alicia Bridges, when this song first hit it was an instant success, Disco at it's best, but soon after it got so over exposed I avoided playing it...
I agree Sandradee.....I left out hedonism :D , and Harlequinism :o , overall definitely an eclectic atmosphere.Originally Written by SandraDee
Also good take on Musique, "In The Bush".....push push in the bush.....ya know I like a boooyyy! :D Classic Funk Disco......also you would have enjoyed the Detroit scene as wellThe Leland House and The Studio was the hot places here.

I thought about Donna and her song Hot Stuff/Bad Girls. I backed off because as much as I liked it, where it kinda missed the mark for me was it's rock influence on it's obvious disco foundation. I wanted a more pure disco track. I still remember the first time I heard it in the clubs and I didn't know what to make of it.Originally Written by QUINNY
For me it's got to be the Classic ........"Heaven, Must've Sent You". by Bonnie Pointer. I tore up that 12" version LP. Still makes me smile![]()
