What is this song supposed to be about? Is it a drug song?
The 70's version of "Strawberry Fields Forever"?

No - it was written by Johnnie Otis Jr. for his girlfriend who wrote love letters to him on strawberry coloured and scented paper. Apparently, the song describes the feelings evoked by "Strawberry Letter 22," the title indicating the hopes of the next letter.

It is an absolute favourite of mine & one of the best 'funk' tracks of all time.

I always loved Sheila E's "Strawberry shortcake" and I also don't know what that song's about. But...it can blow your speakers!
