Al Martino, the disco years

As VOLARE got mentioned here I checked the 2 albums by Al Martino the tune appears on that i have. SING MY LOVE SONG lp was out on Capitol USA in 1976. This only has the short version of VOLARE clocking 2:54. The lp does however have additional disco cuts NOT found on the other album which in turn does have the long version of VOLARE. The dancers are MY THRILL (3:20), THE MORE I SEE YOU (3:37) and a grandiose IT'S NOW OR NEVER/O SOLE MIO. Now, the album which does have the long version is "VOLARE" on Capitol / Emi-Bovema Holland label, number 5C 054-821 165, out also in 1976. This has the short affair as A1 and the long one (4:53) as B7. The extended version comes without the dramatic slow intro, unfortunately. No other disco cuts on this album, either.
Other Italian crooners who dabbled in the Rhythm Divine more or less successfully included Frank Sinatra Himself with NIGHT AND DAY, Paul Delicato with CARA MIA and Arthur Zitelli with YOU BELONG TO MY HEART. VOLARE was also covered in 1976 by something called L.P.O. and this okayish cut can be found on Vogue label 14 SUPER HITS VOL 2.

Al Martino's "Volare" made the US Top 40 in December, 1975. He also went to #17 on the U.S. pop charts with "To The Door Of The Sun (Alle Porte Del Sole)" in March, 1975.
