Hi everybody! After a few days away due to tons of work, I'm here to share with you what I'm listening to this week:

    a) ENYA, IONA and CLANNAD. I guess all this work is driving me nuts and I need to relax. I got nine of their Cds in my home Cd changer right now. It's good stuff to play in the background as I work at home.

    b) EROS RAMAZZOTI. My European and South American friends will recognize the name immediately. My American friends will probably have a harder time. Eros is one of my wife's favorite singers and since she is complaining that I'm listening to all these "girls" named above, she needs to listen to her "boy."

    c) GREAT WHITE -LIVE-. I's great to relax but sometimes I need some electric guitars to get me going! I saw these guys opening for SCORPIONS in 1990. Scorpions were rather dull; Great White were just amazing. One of the most energetic bands I have ever seen on a stage. Love their music!

    d) DISCO SPECTRUM VOL. 1. I'm still trying to develop an ear for some of the songs on these CDs but I just can't get to. I'm convinced I don't care for most of these songs because they mean absolutely nothing for me. In fact, some I am actually listening to for the very first time.

e)JEAN LUC PONTY. One of my all-time favorite musicians. If you don't know who he is, I suggest getting some of his material. Jean Luc is a French violinist who has been around since the mid 60's. He plays accoustic and electri violins in a style that is simply outstanding. He has released twenty-some albums, each one of them HIGHLY recommendable. I got CIVILIZED EVIL, OPEN MIND, and FABLES on the changer.

    f) BOB MARLEY -Songs of Freedom-. Another one of my long-time favorites and one I would love to see in concert. I guess (I hope!!!) I'll have to wait many years for that...

g)Maná. This is a band from Mexico with a very unique style. Imagine THE POLICE, BOB MARLEY, U2, THE CURE, and old Ranchera music with a touch of Salsa mixed together. That is Maná. Cool, cool stuff with some ocasionally beautiful lyrics.

As you can see, this week is a very eclectic one in terms of the music I'm listening to. Almost as eclectic as my life.

    Peace to all.

    Excellent point.

This is perhaps the reason one person would fork up $50.00 for a record someone else just threw away. It has to mean something or touch you on some level...

You are absolutely right Bernie. Out of these CDs, I can connect with two songs: Azoto's SAN SALVADOR and BABY 'O "IN THE FOREST." Those two songs were huge hits in Venezuela when they came out, which was right at the "height" of my DJ years. I remember many parties and DJ battles where we played those two songs. I hear that buzzing sound a the beginning of San Salvador and I can see myself in front of my turntables and mixer, with all kinds of lights going on and off, and my girlfriend standing next to me.

I don't have any kind of similar memories about the other songs. They are probably good songs but I can't connect them to any significant moments in my past.

I agree with you Ricardo on your last comment; sometimes songs remind us of a specific moment in our lifes either good or bad. I prefer the good ones
