Without knowing the place or crowd I have to do some qualified guessing based on my "great experience".
If you play for a crowd that normally likes a vocal / disco / Funky House set this should work:
Have to be something very well known but still not the overplayed ones. Hmm
There have been several covers of "Let the Sunshine In". The best is from 1979. A wonderful Disco version by the group TAXI on S.O.S records. Lots of energy, appr 130 Bpm, singalong friendly and the song is very well known, this version isn´t.
Of course some Michael Jackson stuff, try to cut in with the "oooh" 15 sec from the start of "Don't Stop Till you get enough" and go on with your own medley from there.
About 3 min from the start of the Dan Hartman 12inch Vertigo -Relight my fire "BamBamBam(Brass) ..... at least it makes me wanna stay on the floor.
Why not try B B And Q Band-On The Beat right from the start.
OR Something Ultra Funky like the grooviest Instant Funk, Fatback or Bohannon tracks you can find.
If you get them on the hook you can go on for an hour with anything old that you really like, You could be king or you might have to reconsider your choice of tracks to the next timeJust go ahead and be creative and try to adapt to the situation but also to push the crowd your way. It's the only way i know to become a better DJ.
