    Best 5 pick up the crowd tracks

    I said this before.... this is a great web page.

    Okay, i have aquestion.... best five songs to pick up the crowd song if the crowd is slowing down not responsive.

    I been playing house for about 5 years now. I recently discovered that most of the samples are just from the disco era. I would rather play original stuff.

    Without knowing the place or crowd I have to do some qualified guessing based on my "great experience".

    If you play for a crowd that normally likes a vocal / disco / Funky House set this should work:

    Have to be something very well known but still not the overplayed ones. Hmm

    There have been several covers of "Let the Sunshine In". The best is from 1979. A wonderful Disco version by the group TAXI on S.O.S records. Lots of energy, appr 130 Bpm, singalong friendly and the song is very well known, this version isn´t.

    Of course some Michael Jackson stuff, try to cut in with the "oooh" 15 sec from the start of "Don't Stop Till you get enough" and go on with your own medley from there.

    About 3 min from the start of the Dan Hartman 12inch Vertigo -Relight my fire "BamBamBam(Brass) ..... at least it makes me wanna stay on the floor.

    Why not try B B And Q Band-On The Beat right from the start.

    OR Something Ultra Funky like the grooviest Instant Funk, Fatback or Bohannon tracks you can find.

    If you get them on the hook you can go on for an hour with anything old that you really like, You could be king or you might have to reconsider your choice of tracks to the next time Just go ahead and be creative and try to adapt to the situation but also to push the crowd your way. It's the only way i know to become a better DJ.

    always works to the point that id rarely play the 'vertigo' part of the track and mix it in just before this part. Did it recently at a gig and the crowd really went for it.

    One track that always seems to get a dancefloor moving is munich machine - get on the funk train, which just seems to really move people to start dancing

    Big tracks.

    The ones that people love down 'ere are (well where I worked anyway!);

    Spiller - Groovejet.
    Donna Summer - I feel love (Danny Howells mix. Always handy).
    Doobie Brothers - Long train running.
    Soulsearcher - Can't get enough
    Sylvester - Do you wanna funk or You make me feel.
    Trammps - Disco Inferno

    Re:Pick up the crowd

    Man! that depends on a variety of circumstances like....the crowd, place, the time...etc. but I assumed that you are talking about your typical Saturday night downtown 10pm to 2am crowd....so I would say you don't want to go to deep with the selection..... so here is my top 5;

    1.Hamilton Bohannon,"Lets start to Dance".
    2.Anita Ward, "Ring my Bell"
    3.Karen Young,"Hot Shot"
    4.Foxy,"Get Off"
    5.Chic,"LeFreak"

    Now if you dealing with the 2am 6am crowd! :o you might want to go deeper.

    1.THC Orchestra,"Two Hot for Love"(the 16minute version!) trust me this will take the clothes right off the Ladies!(no offense Ladies.) :oops:
    2. "Latin groove"
    3. "Do you wanna get funky with me"
    4. "Supernature"
    5. then to, you might want to throw on some Dr.Love and some Roy Ayers(running away)!..........sssssssw I'am starting to sweat already :D

    So don't worry to much about a super tight mix....Disco is more about the music.....House is more about the mix(I Love House).

    Good luck.....Let the music take you there.
