My guess as to why a radio DJ would specify as record as a "disco version" is that he was playing the 12" version as opposed to the 45 or single version that radio normally played.

As you all know ,as I stated before, in my "younger days" I listened to a lot of Radio.( that's why at 30someth'inI'm still pursuing my College Education!) :o :o :o ....Nevertheless I recall several top songs having what the Radio D.J. would call "the Disco Version". Usually these versions were much longer and
funkier than the original.
My questions are , Were these versions available to the public or just radio promos? Why did they make these versions? Were these versions early 12inch records? As a kid I don't recall going into the record store and asking for the Disco version of say, Zapp's,"More Bounce to the Ounce" or Parliments, Theme from the Black Hole".?
