For me, Except The supremes, 3 artists sung "Stop in the name of love" :
Gloria Gaynor - Stop in the name of love : 1982
Quantize : Stop in the name of love : 1984
Shalamar - Uptown festival : 1977
Hope this helps you.
I'm tying to identify a disco song from the 70's. I think the title is Sop in the Name of Love sung by Lynn Roman. I could be in error in the exact title or artist, but it is NOT the Supremes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Lyn Roman record was Stop! I Don't Need No Sympathy; later recorded by Alma Faye also.
Hi: Thanks for your reply. Now, I can't find any recordings by Lyn Roman which would have this song. Can you help me again? My name is David. Thanks.

"What More Can a Woman Do?: Brunswick & Chi-sound Sisters of Soul"
Review by Andrew Hamilton
Chicago's female recording artists never got the same attention as their male counterparts; the scenario usually consisted of one or two hits, then a slide into obscurity. Barbara Acklin and Jackie Ross each scored a few R&B hits, a crossover success, and then disappeared. Acklin sounds strong on "Fool, Fool Look in the Mirror," "Love, You Are Mine Today," and the scorching "Love Makes a Woman." Ross' Chess Records hits aren't featured, but her Brunswick offering "Love Is Easy to Lose" isn't bad. Highlights include sassy Sugar Pie De Santo's "The One Who Really Loves You," Della Reese's "Nothing But a True Love," and Lyn Roman's "I Don't Need No Sympathy." Linda Hopkins, Erma Franklin, La Vern Baker, and others also contribute. The only clunker is the Promises' "Living in the Footsteps of Another Girl."
