Surprise, surprise, there were some records that never used to mix very well....or so it seemed.
One that used to get me every time was
Conway Brothers - Turn It Up loved the record big time, but I never could get it to mix with anything else successfully in my own mind. It had a lumpy, less than even rhythm track, that wasn't much like anything else (at the time) and it had chords that clashed with what seemed like every other record. I'm sure it wasn't that bad, but it did become a pet hate of mine for mixing, especially once I'd committed it to a mixtape and it stood out like a sore thumb, amongst some pretty good mixes. After that, I just got a phobia of sorts about it.
The other real bitch that I never could get to mix in properly, that sticks out is Ripple - The Beat Goes On which must go down as the worst edited Disco record of all time. The tempo goes up and down like a yo-yo. Yet again, a record I really loved, but oh so difficult to execute absolutely effectively.
I realise some of you guys are gonna go for a brownie point and tell me that both of these posed no problems for you, but......I AIN'T GONNA BELIEVE YOU!!!! :P :P :P
Any records that you got hung up with?[/b]
Amen to that! At least I wasnt the only one who felt that way on that one. Another is First Choice "Hold Your Horses" which gave me the same probs..however one time I do recall I somehow managed to get it to come in out of Love & Kisses "I Found Love" by playing with the pitch on the First Choice 12'' while bringing it in, then quickly slamed Love & Kisses out.Originally Written by QUINNY
