Hello Marky:

At least one of them is in my old tapes.
Time for Celebration by Faith, Hope & Charity, they sing like this "This is a time for celebration show the proud that you fell in your nation..." and so on. Also at the middle of the song there is the USA anthem.

I have this one. I think it was only released as a 7". It's a seriously high-cheese cover of the old Ronettes song, with falsetto male vocals. Let's just say that time has been much kinder to the original.

I have "A Time For Celebration" on a tape from 1976. I think it was recorded in honor of the Bicentennial.

I have this song by LOVE CHILDS AFRO-CUBAN BLUES BAND on a 12" (RCA records - 1977), but it's on the B-side in a medley mix with SPANISH HARLEM. (writtten by Phil Spector!) I think this b-side is a bit cheezy, not my kinda disco.
The A-side has a discofied version of Tito Puentes OYE COMO VA. It's is not bad, but the track is much to long: 9'56.
Both sides are produced and arranged by Michael Zager.

I think you're wrong. I also own this mix but in the lp track list there are both "Spandisco" and the medley whom the exact title is "Spanish Harlem/Dancin' To Spandisco"

-This was a big club and sales chart hit in Europe, very much in the Bimbo Jet vein.
KARAMBANI - Buari (RCA)
There was a brief "Burundi Beat" phase in clubs around this time, meaning polyrhythmic, exciting but to most punters a bit hard to dance to tracks, with furious slamming percussion and chanting voices. The biggest title was "Burundi Black" and even after the intial phase passed these French-produced cuts by African artists continued to get spins in hipper joints. The fast flying beats of the Hi-Life style was the next big step.

1976:

I got this from Majorca, Spain, where it was spinned in every club during the '76 summer season. Can anybody remember the "Superstar" club in El Terreno -?

I guess the European influence was wider spread than I previously was aware of. Seems most of these records had origins somewhere on that continent.

Well, they weren't topping the charts here in the U.S.--BUT they were selling enough in the NYC retail stores to make their sales lists.

Disco outfit from this jazz cellist. A must for the afro funky disco lovers. It also exists as promo only 12" on WB.
Much to my surprise, I hear this being played (in the original version) in a house set no later than 1 week ago.
