    My type of disco

ok, theres loads of disco tracks i love, but a load of really crappy ones that i download too. It takes me ages to get to a proper disco track that i can dance around my room to in an extremely funky manner. so heres my kind of disco
Chic - freak out - good times etc.
    Funky Town
Indeep - last night a dj saved my life
baccara - yes sir i can boogie
Cheryl Lynn - got to be real
diana ross - upside down - i'm coming out - my old piano
Sister sledge - we are family - lost in music - he's the greatest dancer
    boney m - sunny
nolans - i'm in the mood for dancing
    Ottawan - D.I.S.C.O

So you get my type of disco? its gotta be funky and make ya wanna dance your pants off. only problem is i don't have a very wide knowledge of disco and when i try and download new tracks they always turn out to be crappy disco trash. So can you name a few of the better disco songs that would fit in with this type of disco above? quality disco!
    Thanks people

Well, if you hang around here a while you will see that many members have many tastes. A list you should definitely check out is the famous:

Welcome to the board BTW :D

PhantomS: I'd have to admit that your list would have me tearing my hair out if I had to make recommendations for you. A list that gives equal credence to Chic - Good Times and The Nolans - I'm In The Mood for Dancing shows absolutely no consistancy, especially when the latter is indirectly described as "funky."

Still, If you likes it, you likes it, so good luck. Maybe others will have an easier time delving into the deepest recesses of your inner workings and come up with a few.

    To each his own.

You have only dipped your toes in the ocean....

Start with the other stuff produced by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers like Sister Sledge. Also look out for Narada Michel Walden productions.
Get the album "Eau De Vie" by Delegation. Another classic (a british band) I think you would love that.

I have realized that Chic should be one of your favourite groups.Nile Rodgers has made the production for many artists like Sister Sledge,Sheila and Black Devotion("spacer"),Carly Simon,Debby Harry,B 52s,David Bowie(Lets dance, china girl)e.t.c.A very good danceable track familiar to "Nile Rodger s" style is "Can t fake the feeling" by Geraldine Hurt(I don t know if it s Rodger s production).I agree with Noman about Narada Micheal Walden s productions(try for "jump to the beat" by Stacey Latisaw)

The early 80s was full of Chic-soundalikes; some favourites of mine that spring to mind are 'Dont You Want My Lovin' by Wanda Walden, 'Garden Of Eve' by Yvonne Gage, 'Destiny' by Vivien Vee, 'History' by Mai Tai, 'Dont Sneak On Me' by Michael Zager, 'Sweet Talk' by Robin Beck, 'Hold tight' by Gino Soccio, 'Heartache no.9' by Delegation & most of the JFP stuff like Change/BB & Q Band/High Fashion/Ritchie Family ('Ill Do My Best' from '82 is wonderful! :D )

    Hey Phantom!

Here's another one you may like:

Try "it's a love thing" by THE WHISPERS

That's what I call a "funky" disco song...and the bassline is similar to "last night a DJ..." :D
