    The Pope has passed away.

John Paul II has passed away in The Vatican. We all, regarless of our beliefs, lose a great man. May he rest in peace.

I'm not very religious but one can't deny that he was a remarkable Pope. He did many good things and also bad things, just like all of us.

    May he rest in peace.

Didn't this Pope pass judgement on all sort of issues many people see as personal, like didn't he claim birth control is a mortal sin? He laid a lot of guilt on people suffering from aids, too. Not the kind of man I would keep company with.

Yes, this pope recently claimed that my friends and I subscribe to an "ideology of evil" and that we're a huge danger to society. Gosh, and he's never even met us.

Hopefully it hit where it hurts. Who knows what his holiness was up to during his papacy, just think what goes on behind all those walls - plenty of 11-yrs old choirboys and good sisters around, and what about all those fetching Vatican guards in their snazzy, almost-Armani uniforms. Forty hail marys, a bit of self-flagellation afterwards and all will be forgiven.

Right on Jussi. My partner reckons popes in the past were regularly seen in gay bars in Rome so why Catholisism should be so anti-gay I'll never know. I'm hoping that that type of hypocracy is becoming a thing of the past.

I think the church needs to modernize itself with the times.

Priests being allowed to marry, etc.

I'm not condemning Pope John Paul but perhaps a new younger pope might be able to institute some change.

The priest scandal of the last couple of years really created a sour note with a lot of people.

    The Pope

I see a couple of you have nothing to say but to insult a great man. It's no fault of the Pope that some of you are potential disease carriers because you live a deviant life style which you want the rest of humanity to accept as normal. I, myself, don't have a problem with people being "gay" (homosexuals), but please, accept the reality that your condition is not accepted as normal in any part of the world by just about any society. That's why God made MEN and WOMEN, and for those of you who don't believe in God, Mother Nature.
Please do not confuse tolerance with normality. Respect is something you earn, and it's not done by mocking those that don't agree with you. If you want people to "tolerate" you, then, you must show some respect for those you want respect from. The Catholic Church, like any other organization, has standards, and if those standards do not conform to your life style, then you just don't join that organization and go somewhere else. Remember this, what ever negative remarks you can say about others, others can say worse about you.

Guest: I initiated this thread and I'm 100% with you. I was interested in the site but after what I have seen I won't waste my time. My interest in disco music is substantially less than my interest in my faith.

I invite you to visit these sites, which I am sure will be more satisfying than this one:

--------- I've never understood the desire of some to grovel at the feet of someone else simply because that someone else has the audacity to make the insulting claim that they are so much more special that they have been chosen to be superiorly closer to God than little ol' inadequate you.

You're more than welcome - I always thought hysterical rants by constipated fundamentalists groveling in their guilt make for great entertainment. As a straight man, I'm well aware that most aids cases are now transmitted thru unsafe heterosexual sex but still, don't give up on us darling, keep the insults (?) coming!

And now back on topic. I respect everyone's religion but I just can't cope with people that are judging in the name of. "Don't judge or thou shall be judged" and "He who is without sin, casts the first stone". If you are really devoted to God, you'll love every creature on earth! That's what the bible says.

I can't follow this discussion anymore. Am I the European pinhead? I'm attacking the fundamentalist guest. I'm not religious you know and I just can't stand people who are judging other people in the name of a religion. That was my point. If suddenly I'm the bad guy now, so be it.

But I really get a little sick of all these guest-postings. Who is who?

    Videoskooter,

No, I posted something about who the "guest" is ...then changed my mind...and now, apparently you cannot "delete" a post---WHY??????....so I had to leave something in the text of the message...so that's what is left.

Sorry....I have no problem with you!!!!! You make good sense to me!!!! :D

You see Marky, all this guest-stuff is getting confusing. I can understand that Bernie is attracting new members but discussions are hard to follow this way.

Thx for the reply BTW. I'll stop crying now :D

Hey! What's wrong with testing out the site as a guest? I'm doing it and I liked what I saw until I came across these messages putting down the pope and found several members with a serious attitude problem.

Just like the guest who left a message on a previous page, I have to say that I like disco music but not to the point where I am going to put up with this non-sense. In my case it is not a matter of faith, it is just a matter of not being interested in dealing with all this crap. I got enough of it at work!

The subject is the pope and yet someone expects no mud to fly. Amazing. Can I be the European pinhead, not capable of understanding American family values derived from ancient European dogmas, preached but certainly not understood by by George W. Bush, "the Leader of the Free World"? - But please, could I be THE Pinhead of Clive Barker's "Hellraiser"? :" I have such sights to show you..."

Yes, your remarks and characterizations of the pope are offensive. What does W have to do with this? Or is this more vitriol from a european pinhead?

Hmmmm....just around the same time it appears "It" has returned to the boards, we have this troll-bait thread posted by a "Guest". Once the vitriol the thread would obviously create begins, the "Guest" stirs the pot some more, flaring tempers further.

Anyone care to guess that "It" and "Guest" are one and the same?
