Hi guys! This is what I got in my car's CD changer right now:

    a) THE REAL THING GREATEST HITS. I'm not sure if I got the title right but it is the U.K-issued CD with these guys' greatest hits. Expensive CD (over $25 with S&H through Amazon) but pretty good overall. I had been looking for "Can You Feel The Force?" and this CD has it but in a different version from the one I have on tape. A very cool song nonetheless.

    b) KANO's Greatest hits. Another expensive CD; this one cost me $22 at a local store. However, it is well worth the price. I got songs that I love such as "I'm Ready" and some that I had never heard before such as "Queen of Witches." Very, very cool song!!! My daughter and I love it! (By the way, can anybody think of songs similar to this one?)

    c) MADONNA's YOU CAN DANCE. I guess I'm about 17 years late to get into Madonna's stuff but lately I have been listening to a lot of her music. This CD is pretty good because it has mixed and remixed versions of her dance hits.

    d) EURO MIX 2. Although this material is a bit too techno-house-or-whatever-it-is for me, this is a really cool CD with outstanding mixes. I like it a lot but I just can't take 72 minutes of this stuff all in one sitting. I have to listen to about half a CD at the time. Excellent anyways.

    e) EARTH, WIND, & FIRE's Greatest Hits. Vol 1. There are at least half-a-dozen CDs with this same title, all of them with different tracks. In fact, I got three of them! This is the one with the reddish-orangie cover with the round seal on the cover. the tracks are all pretty good but I particularly like the SUPERMIXES at the end of the CD. Great work!

    f) DISCO SPECTRUM Vol 1. What a dissapointment!!!! I waited almost 4 weeks for this CD only to get a deffective one! In one of the CDs three tracks are damaged and in the other 2 tracks are damaged. On top of that, in my opinion, the track listing is pretty mediocre. From the tracks I can hear, I only like --and in fact LOVE-- Azoto's SAN SALVADOR and Baby 'O IN THE FORREST.

    g) This one is going to look pretty weird but it is actually agreat CD. A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY (the soundtrack to the movie.) I understand the movie is pretty dumb but the CD is wonderful and the mixing work is fantastic. A salesman at the local music store recommended it and got me a used one they had in there. A great purchase for $2.99!!!

    h) REGATTA MONDATTA -A REGGAE TRIBUTE TO THE POLICE-. I got mixed feelings about this CD. Some of the tracks are great and some are pretty crappy; they sound too much like gangsta rap for me. I wouldn't recommend it.

    i) REGGAE LOVE SONGS. This was another find in the used CD bin. Overall, it is pretty cool and well worth the $2.99.

    That's it.

    Hi Ricardo,

I disagree with your opinion about DISCO SPECTRUM VOL. 1. The double CD contains classic soulful DISCO tracks like RARE PLEASURE's LET ME DOWN EASY, REVELATION's FEEL IT and SALSOUL ORCHESTRA's TAKE SOME TIME OUT FOR LOVE. In my opinion, these songs are far better than the ones you've mentioned. Different strokes for different folks for sure...

Thanx for your advice on Disco Spectrum 1 guys. I've been tempted to buy it, Ricardo, for that Azoto track alone. One day, I will get round to it... Sorry that the rest of the CD didn't play.

That Clyde Alexander track is one of the biggest RARE GROOVE tracks in England For some unknown reason I decided to buy on on US 12 inch when it came out, after having heard it on a UK pirate soul station at the time...

Hi! You guys are probably right. Some of the tracks are OK; I think it's just that they don't mean much to me because they were never popular in Venezuela. San Salvador and In The forest were big hits and we used to play them a lot.

As luck may have it, most of the tracks that you have mentioned several times are the tracks that I can't hear in my CDs.

    Hey fellas,

these are the sounds that are jumping from my speakers this week:

    - ANGIE STONE: MAHOGANY SOUL - this marvellous album was released a few weeks ago here in BRASIL and I've captured one for myself quickly. F-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c record. I've missed the remix for "Wish I Didn't Miss You", which is great.

    - THE SCORE: 20 ULTRA-COOL SOUNDTRACKS FROM THE PRODUCERS OF MOJO - this compilation was released with the june edition of MOJO magazine (my favorite music magazine, BTW). Great selection of songs. The CD includes gems by JOHNNY PATE, DJ SHADOW, MOBY, BOOKER T. & THE M.G.'S, ISAAC HAYES, JOHN BARRY and others. And the magazine has super-cool articles about SUPERFLY, HEAD (THE MONKEES' psychedelic movie) and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM (great movie).

    - TOKYO STRING QUARTET: BEETHOVEN - THE LATE STRING QUARTETS - Before you say something like Uh? or (!), let me tell you that I love this music and I had the opportunity to find this amazing 3 CD edition with a very very very low budget price! Heavenly music, period. This is music to hear forever and a day.

    - PETER GABRIEL: RABBIT-PROOF FENCE SOUNDTRACK: Just before the "long arm of the law" close AUDIOGALAXY I've downloaded all the tracks of the new PETER GABRIEL album. It is a beautiful soundtrack, very atmospheric. A great work from a great musician.

    - DONNA SUMMER: THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY: even considering the fact that this 2 CD compilation miss some of her greatest songs, it's the most comprehensive compilation of DONNA's music ever released. I miss "OUR LOVE" for sure, but on this CD one can listen to some nuggets that are forgotten on hundreds of others DONNA SUMMER compilations: LOVE'S UNKIND (I love this track), COLD LOVE and I'M A RAINBOW. What I love about DONNA SUMMER? I'm a fan of her music, but I really dig her VOICE - the woman was blessed with a beautiful, sweet, sweet voice.

    What a mix, uh?

    Peace,
    zeca azevedo
