An artist has to evolve naturally but he could have done it like Cerrone. Sample his own old but great beatz and cook something new with them. Always liked Bobby but I'm not sure of buying his new stuff.
I just received Bobby O's new album ''Outside the Inside'' from Amazon. I was a big fan of him back in 80s, so had looked forward to getting it. My impression is some tunes have a taste of retro HNG sound I like, but in most cases they are modern techno style and have lost his earlier-fame novel synthesizer technique. :(
I wish I could feel his old good sound more. Is it cannot be helped because it's been 20 years since then?

Thanks Videoskooter. I totally agree with you. I bought Cerrone's recent album Hysteria the other day and felt the same. He keeps his old good sound compatible to the current era.Originally Written by Videoskooter
In Japan Bobby O was hugely popular, so some of my oldy-oriented disco friends say they would like to buy Outside The Inside but I couldn't recommend it.

I'll probably get this eventually.. It's probably not up to par with his older stuff, it's a new album from "the master" so i'm hoping it'll be good on it's own terms at least.. I guess the Bobby O album is pretty timely, since (like someone mentioned in another thread) Hi-NRG is making something of a comeback lately..
Good news! Amazon offers samples, so you can "try before you buy" and get an idea of the overall sound.
