What do you expect from people who were only 2 or 3 years old during the time period in question? Some wannabe hipster 25 year olds were more than likely responsible for many of the fuckups in that movie and other 1970's time period pieces released in the 1990's.

If anyone is thinking of picking up this DVD's Special Edition (region 1) do it soon, it has been cut out, some say to bundle later with the pre-quel release yet to hit the theaters..I can't find it locally already...

The movie definitely has a Disco feel but yes, the music choice is a little bizarre. "Pillow talk" also fits nicely in.

BTW, have you seen Pacino's eyes when she's showing her talents to him, what a method actor :D :D :D

The love story seemed tacked on, and not too believable either. Why would he fancy her so much? But...different strokes I geuss

Besides f'ing up the Lynn song, the movie did justice to some latin favorites from the era. Marc Anthony did a remake of Roberto Roena's "Se Parece una Mentira". The song can be heard when Pacino and the cousin are going to the barbershop to make the drop. Ray Baretto's "El Watusi" is played when they are shooting pool in the back room. When Carlito and Kleinfeld are in the nightclub with the two girls in the begining of the flick you can here Celi Cruz/Johnny Pacheco's "Vieja Luna." Also during one of the club scenes you can here Fania All Stars/Hector Lavoe's "Canta Mi Gente."

When Marc Anthony was just breaking into the salsa scene he recorded that song. As far as I know, you can only get it on the soundtrack.
