It was either "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby or "Change" by Tears For Fears. Not sure which came first.
For me it was "Winelight" by Gover Washington Junior, and followed that with Spectrum "Takin it to the Top", They got me into the whole jazz funk disco experience

Savage Lover-The Ring '' 79 '' :D :D
Mine was "It's All The Way Live" by Lakeside.
Cory Day-Green Light, and a whole bunch of others 1979 in London..
Mine was "A Little Lovin' (Keeps the Doctor Away)" by The Raes in 1978
\"...a once in a lifetime feeling that returns every week...\"
I'm not sure, but I think the first one I bought was Skip Mahoney & the Casuals - Running Away From Love on Abet Records.
I believe that the first 12" I had was Double Exposure - Ten Percent, but that was given to me.
Both were 1976.
Rappers Delight - Sugar Hill Gang!
Madonna - Like A Virgin  (I still prefer that mix too.)
and Prince - Purple Rain (purple vinyl, album version), bought at the same time. My plan was to buy Irene Cara - Flashdance... What A Feeling but they didn't have it anymore and I never saw it again. Took me 10 years to finally hear it. I'm very patient. 8)
Born in '63, I didn't have that much pocketmoney as a young kid so I mainly bought 7"s in the early seventies. But it all started in 1978 when I bought Supermax "Love Machine" and the second one was "Hot Shot" by Karen Young. Still love those beauties!
Mine was Instant Funks' 'I got my mind made up'.
I think the first 12" I bought was Doctor's Orders by Carol Douglas about 1975-6-7? It's been so long I can't remember exactly.
Dr. Disco is now a commercial property owner.
My first 12" ........well I bought two records that day....."Back In Love Again" by LTD and "Risky Changes" Bionic Boogie ....the next one I bought was "Lovin' Is Really My Game" by Brainstorm
T-Connection's 'Do What You Wanna Do' on TK. I was 12 & found it very exciting with those breaks & synth solos. :D
Some real goodies there....i still remember goign back to the shop after getting an advance on my meagre wages amd later buying MFSB - "Mysteries of the World" & Mystic Merlin - "Just Cant give you up" It was a real good week hammering my binatone record player
DJ Boogie Badness :D :D
"Rise" by Herb Alpert. It was uphill after that, though.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
now this is really tough.... doing a little research... I believe my first 12" was
LET'S ALL CHANT - MICHAEL ZAGER BAND
Let's All Chant was about the fourth or fith one I bought. "Goove Me" by Fern Kinney was somewhere early in my collection too.

"TEN PERCENT" by Double Exposure from Jimmys Music World in Brooklyn. It was 2.99. High considering that Jimmys sold LPS for 3.99 and 4.99.
As the format settled they became 1.99 with some on sale for .99~!!
Those were the days :D
"Uptown Festival" by Shalamar
The first one I bought was "Do What You Wanna Do" by T-Connection, followed by "Dancin'" by Crown Heights Affair.
"Dr. Love" by First Choice was the first 12" single.
"What You Won't Do For Love" in the heart-shaped single was the first R&B single I bought -- senior moment; who did that? Still love that song.
Still Love "Dr. Love" and listen to it often to this day.

What a great single that was, with heart melting lyrics and so soulfully sung by Bobby Caldwell. Smooth sophisticated blue eyed soul at its best.
Two of my early ones were The Letter by Queen Samantha and Souvenirs by Voyage both 1978.
