Strangest Sound Set-Up You Encountered
I once went to a new club as a guest and of course was invited to the DJ booth. I was in the booth before I had entered the club, so I hadn't had a chance to check out the dance floor.
The DJ had two amps and no mixer. When I asked him where the mixer was, he had no idea what I was talking about. At this club, the DJ simply turned down one amp, and turned up the other, with a turntable and two speakers connected to each amp.
The speakers for each amp were on opposite ends of the building-wide dance floor, and the crowd moved to the loud end, in a back and forth motion, as each song alternated from one end of the room to the other.
I did guest DJ that day, but it was surely the strangest set-up I ever encountered. You cued with a different headset for each amp/turntable/speaker set-up.
I told the DJ about mixers, and he promised he was going to get one, later I went back to see, and the club was out of business. Its name was Disco 66, as it was located on Route 66 outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
They didn't even know about having felt on the turntables to "slip" the records. I don't remember anything in particular about the light show....must not have been much.
Anyway, please post your strangest sound set-up encountered!
