At the age of 13 he formed his first group, the Stingrays,
with two Detroit friends, Ollie Brown and Nate Watts.
His next band included such greats as Hamilton Bohannon and
Michael Henderson supporting stars as Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder
and the Temptations.
Who am I talking about?

This has to be Dennis Coffey. Just got his "Evolution" album this weekend with Scorpio on it and it is great stuff.

Wings of Fire always does it for me. One of the best ever Disco instrumentals.

Give me some Dennis Coffey (well the second, percussion lead half) Scorpio, Hamilton Bohannon Stop & Go or Donald Austin Crazy Legs back in the early '70s and I was in Funkin' heaven.

Clue: wanted person is not white and he enjoyed
his greatest successes with his band and as a solo
