    Blax:

Thanks for the comments and more importantly, thanks for the addition to your Senhores website. I saw the section and am very excited to be included in with such a knowledgeable group of DJ's and music lovers. Taking the time to include an honorary members section was a very nice gesture. As for Heaven & Earth, hit me up at my personal e-mail address and I'll gladly send you some recorded music ala the CD's you produced for your partner Zeca. It's all about the music. Thanks again.

At last! Been waiting for this all week !!

Let's have a look then. You know, I'm running out of superlatives - have to start using the spellcheck!!

    - Creative Source. A perfect choice!! What can I say about that track? For me, it is one of the most inspirational tracks of that era. Bring back the Seventies!!

The Pockets. I think we discussed that one a few weeks ago - but it is such a good record. it just oozes class - superb soulful vocals on top of a fantastic driving rhythmn section. In my book - Out of the top drawer!
We have a commercial radio station that plays commercial disco and Fri and Sat nights, you know Night Fever, Inside Out, I Will Survive etc, Maybe I should ask for this - GIVE 'EM SOME EDUCATION!!!

You picked Hi Tension again, Sammy! One for us Brits! We certainly used to get down to that one this side of the Pond (what we call the Atlantic Ocean!). YEAH!!!!

I love anything by the Blackbyrds and Donald Byrd. The Blackbyrd first LP itself was, I believe, a very influential and important LP - in terms of fusing jazz with soul and funk and taking black music in yet another new direction!! I'll check out my Blackbyds/Donald Byrds Lps when I get home tonight but I'm sure I've got that track. A really good choice, Sammy

Aurra - yes, I remember that one! To my ears, they were very much in the same vein as Slave (Watching You etc) and deservedly very popular in the English clubs...

As for the slow tracks, some excellent artists in there - Lenny Williams, Tower of Power, GQ. I think GQ are one of my TOP 5 disco/funk bands of all time - such quality!

Don't seem to recall directly the Heaven and Earth track. Can you tell me about it, please. In fact I don't know much about Heaven and Earth at all, but all I know is that they seem to be held in awe by everybody that knows them. I'm willing to learn!!

Sammy - Thanks for taking the trouble to let us know what's going on in your part of the world. I appreciate it very much and always look forward to your list with anticipation.

PS what about it, eh?? We're both honorary members of Senhores do Groove!! To see my reaction, go to DISCUSS NON MUSIC-RELATED ITEMS and pick up on the thread WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD ...

    Take care

BTW: People, your "pretty faces" are already placed in the SG website honorary members section. Thanx for the interest and welcome aboard folks!

Best wishes to both of you, guys!

    Jazz:

Thank you for your comments. It makes me happy to know there are people like you and Blaxman out there who love and appreciate these songs as much as I do. The Blackbyrds 'Time is movin' is from the LP 'Unfinished Business'. This track is one of favorite Blackbyrd tracks. I also love that era in the mid '70's when Donald Byrd was fusing Jazz, funk and soul. His LP's from that era are groundbreaking and I think I'll be playing some of his stuff this Friday. As for Aurra, the reason they sound like Slave is probably because they were formed by Stevie Washington who was the original leader of Slave. I love Slave! When it comes to that era it is a toss up between Slave and Pleasure as my favorite band from that era. As for Heaven and Earth, a funk/soul band from the late '70's, early '80's. I have two LP's from '79 and '81. They have gospel roots which account for their lyrical content and beautiful love ballads. B/T/W, saw your picture up on the Senshores de Groove site. Blaxman, thanks again for making us part of your great group of friends that know something about good music. Brazil here I come! Looking forward to more musical exchanges and enlightenment.

    Easy,

    Sam "ALL JAM"
