Marcio, this is a great track (also done by Jim Gilstrap in '75), similar to the old Bravo's "Black is Black" hit, "Still on fire" is Instrumental only. I had never seen their pic until now. Thanks

A lot of the cover art was cheese; now to the music

I hate to admit it, but I could never, never get used to Meco's "Star Wars" thing. No matter how blitzed I was, it always was a bit too-too for me.

Now, a question... I do recall a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" a' la discotheque that I really enjoyed. Was that one Meco, too?!

    Inquiring minds need to know,

    Paul - a.k.a. Judydoggie
    - Yours, musically

It was indeed Meco! It's on the "Close Encounters Of Every Kind" 1977 LP.

It could also be Vince Montana's A Dance Fantasy based on the soundtrack and ending with Kathy Sledge singing "When you Wish Upon A Star".

But I thought that little meeskyte Tina Charles sang "I'm On Fire" with 5000 Volts. That ain't Tina in that picture!!! :-?

Or are they pullin' a C+C Music Factory thing-- trying to pretend Velma Davis is singing when it's actually Martha Wash?????

hey thats a point marky, luckily in england we were spared the picture cover, [but sadly not the disk] maybee these were rounded up for the photo sleeve or more likely when the record charted and they needed em for t.v and in reality there wasnt really a group, ya see tina was FAR to frumpy for a picture cover then they thought theyd add crazy people to the group name to give them a dangerous edge

The latter! Before Milli Vanilli, before Boney M, 5000 Volts appeared on Top of the Pops with the singer you see on the cover miming to Tina Charles's voice.

Their performance of "I'm on fire" actually appeared on "Top of the Pops 2" on BBC2 quite recently, which was interesting to see.

    Regards
    Darren

I think "I'm On Fire" has negative points and positive points. Negative points: it's very short (it clocks more or less 2:30) and the introdution repeats the famous bassline of "Black is Black". Positive points: Tina Charles made a beautiful hard voice (remember Bonnie Tyler or Janes Joplin) and the male chorus is also beautiful (Honey now I'im on my way
    I'm on fire) :)
