Ok. This is getting scary because I'm pretty sure I didn't do these guys but I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to go back and start logging these artist. Anyway, this week's artist (for the 1st time I hope) is MFSB. Love Is The Message is my choice. BTW, this tune served as a source for many rappers at house parties and small clubs before rap was even heard of.
Find them and destroy them!

TSOP, but I must admit Love is the Message is a heavy duty song. I remember back then Frankie Crocker and Ted Currier made couple of mixes with this song that has been unequaled.
MFSB was Disco at its best in many ways. It's musicians founded many different smaller groups: the O'Jays, the Fantastic Johnny C, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Trammps, etc. And one can not really talk about MFSB and not talk about the Salsoul Orchestra (same orchestra but under the direction of Vincent Montana). My favorite here are Magic Bird of Fire and the Chicago Busstop.

If it moves - funk it!!
I'll go with "Love Is The Message" but I've got to say that I have always been crazy about their version of "Summertime".
"Touch Me In The Morning" is hot, too!

The 2 best features in DISCO for me are the strings and the horns. Then comes the keyboards.
MFSB is just perfect in terms of strings + brass and a fine exemple of early disco.
Of couse THE SOUNDS OF PHILADELPHIA is a must and although I never heard the following tracks in the 70's, they have become favourites for me: the jazzy FREDDIE'S DEAD and POINCIANA from the recently acquired debut album, just released on CD.
