    Dennis Parker

I pulled out my "Like An Eagle" LP tonight and am listening to it right now actualy. I will say this is probably one of my fave disco LPs by a 1 albumed artist. What do others here think of this LP? The track that kicks off side 2 "Why Dont You Boogie/Im A Dancer" id say is a total almost rip off (well not really cause the producer/writer same lol) of "YMCA", but done with a much better production and more style and kick and I love it! Havent heard this LP (aside from the title track) in prob about 2 or 3 years. Too bad the late Parker didnt do anything else. I think Jacques Morali did a fine job with this one.

Ahhh Dennis Parker, aka "Wade Nichols" the porn star. Saw him in "Barbara Broadcast" with Annette Haven. He shot himself in the head in the mid '80s after being diagnosed with HIV. How sad... RIP Mr. Parker.

I personally think that the title track is the best track & the rest is formulaic Morali/Belolo stuff. The title track makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck (b4 I shave them off! ) with its fabulous moody, cruisy atmosphere. 8)

Yeah, I'm with my sister Sandy. Love "Like An Eagle"--the rest is filler.

Ahh come on guys, ya gotta like "NY By Night" at least too lol, the other 3 songs I love..but yes the title track is the highlight of the LP. I will say though the last song "I Need Your Love", the vocals sound like a cross between Neil Young and Bee Gees lol..but i love it for some reason..the whole LP!

Interesting that you mention the bee gees similarity 'cos I always thought that Patrick Juvet sounded like the Bee Gees singing Village People songs (maybe not so surprising 'cos of the Morali productions )

[quote="Videoskooter"]Can I get more details on the Porn Parker pleazzzzz!

Although Parker is known for straight porn films such as "Maraschino Cherry" and the excellent "Take Off", he also did gay porn such as the infamous "Boynapped" with Jamie Gillis. He also appears to have done many 8mm gay porn loops in the mid-seventies as well.

In "Barbara Broacast" Parker is the cook (? my memory is dim after 30 years) who jerks off in a salad (creamy Italian?) served to restaurant guests. :o The premise of the movie was that the restuarant's patrons could order sex off the menu. It was very, very good. I've assembled a decent collection of Disco music and I've started a collection of the best of '70s porn (just picked up "The Ecstasy Girls" from '79 on DVD).

Porn and Disco go "Hand In Hand". If you haven't seen any '70s porn and like erotica you really should check out the best in '70s porno because many of these films were very good and the actors really could act and they are a fantastic time capsule of the '70s!!!!!!!!

About this 1979 porn you just mentioned you bought..hows the music in that? Im always interested in disco porn music from the era. Never seen Dennis Parker in any porns though as 70s porn is very hard to find these days (aside from the common Maryln Chambers stuff lol). So Parker jerks off in a salad   oh well..guess thats "resturant by night"?

"Barbara Broadcast" is fucking hilarious and would be a great comedy even without the hardcore shots. Cum on - jerkin' off in a salad!?

"The Ecstasy Girls" has excellent background music. Kind of a lilting, rolling, rollicking theme when folks are gettin' it on. Very pleasant to hear and very '70s in composition and sound. Well worth a viewing of the movie. The movie itself is one of the best of '70s porn and possibly the best hardcore film produced in '79.

The premise of the film is that of the brother of a very wealthy man who is A beneficiary in the rich guy's will and wants to be sure he is the ONLY beneficiary. So he hires 3 pals (John Leslie, Paul Thomas and Jamie Gillis) to seduce his female relatives, film the fun and games and then turn the film over to the rich brother who will dis-inherit the hot ladies.

Watch it, I know you'll really enjoy it. The scene on the spiral staircase between John Leslie and the late Laurien Dominique will burn your television up!

Laurien Dominique - so sweet yet so HOT!!!!!!!!! She died from cancer several years after she made "The Ecstasy Girls". This fan of hers will remember her always.

I once had a chance in '76 to go on a "date" with one of the '70s top porno stars, Abigail Clayton, but that is another story...

Anyone know more about how Dennis Parker hooked up with the Morali/Belolo team, and how he came to record this album?

Apparently Morali saw Parker in his porn roles, liked what he saw and approached Parker. And when Parker could sing a deal for that album was signed.

I have no trouble buying '70s porn DVDs here in Mass (one of the few good things about living in the DPRM) and several on-line sites sell 'em for very reasonable prices.

We're getting ready for a permanent move to The Sunshine State and I have few things to do so I'll be back later with the Abigail Clayton story. She was SOOOOOOOOO sweet! Talk about the girl next door AND I still have her picture. :D

During the spring of '76 Ms. Clayton was in the area promoting her first film "Dixie". Good movie, she gave me a smile and an autographed photo, which I still have, and after some small talk I went into the theatre and watched "Dixie".

Unknown to me then was the fact that while in Worcester she was staying at the old Sheraton Lincoln. So...

At this time I was going with a real slut who lived in the apartment building immediately behind the Sheraton Lincoln. This Friday night we have a date for a night on the town with some action later on. So to build up my strength and stamina I stop in at the bar at the Sheraton Lincoln for a beer or two or three before my "date". It was early, 7:30, 7:45 or so and guess who's sitting at the bar? None other than Ms. Clayton! I was amazed to see her and it caught me off guard a bit. She recognized me from the movie theatre a few nights before and said "Hi". So I sat next to her and order my beer and we start some small talk - "Did you like my movie?" "Yes I did, you were very good in it" that kind of talk. We hit it off and start a little more serious conversation. She was a nice girl, my age, originally from Machias Port, Maine (even told me her real name) who went to college and found her way into the California porn industry. We hit it off but as I had a previous engagement I had to leave after a 1/2 hour or so.

We connected to some degree and I could have spent more time with her. I have often wondered how that Friday night would have turned had I not had prior plans. I never saw her again and life went on.

So that is my story of my almost Friday night date with Abigail Clayton in the spring of '76. She went on to become one of the hottest starlets of '70s porn and I remember her as a real nice girl that perhaps I could have...?

I looked her up on the imdb (internet movie database) and she was also in the movie "Maniac" which I've seen.

Was she one that lost her chain and the killer brought it to her apartment where he killed her?

I hate the scene where the killer thinks all his victims come back to life and proceed to kill him. Yuck!!

    Okay back to the topic......

I also have copies of "A Coming of Angels" and "Seven Into Snowy". Abigail plays "Snowy" and the "Seven" are a motorcycle gang... :o

Ok BACK TO THE MUSIC... And, Dennis Parker :P

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE ! Like an Eagle, I prefer the 12" version to the album - even though the album has a verse not featured on the 12".. The 12" single sounds exellent!

A steady mid-temp haunting beat starts it off. Then instruments are introduced one by one. The next is the piano, then the strings .. all to encompass that energy that builds and builds untill that instrumental break in the middle. This releases all that tension built up to that point in the track. Love the instrumentation. One of my favorite disco singles! Unfortunetely, its always been too slow for me to ever mix in my set (109 bpm). House remix anyone??

Discoman: That is an awsome experience there and would have me thinkin too..what if LOL. Lucky guy you!

Discofrank: I used to play "Like An Eagle" many times, although i used to spin all classic disco too so didnt have to try to work it in with say todays stuff. Its morning music none the less and id hit it when id reach that stage of a night (if I was working an allnighter or close to). I could name endless amounts of tracks you can come into that from..one offhand i would do was the instrumental remix of Dan Hartman's "Vertigo" slowed down, then right as its goin into "Relight My Fire" listen in on the wind on that, and use the Parker 12'' at normal pitch - maybe a notch faster (depending on how ya got into the Hartman track) and it blends niceeeee. Another idea for ya, use the LP and the 12'' of Parker and you can overbleed that 2nd verse over where the 12'' goes instrumental then drop it out on cue and go right back to the 12'' and no one will ever know you just pulled a fast one on em
