    Disco Mash-Ups

I came across some Mash-Ups, I guess that's what they're calling them. Anyway, I give respect to the DJ/Producers who has used their creativity to keep retro-disco sounding fresh. Spectacular productions in my opinion, they seem to have captured the true feel of the music without it being lost in modern technology.

I played around with a couple of mixes I put on my site. Take a listen, I find the music very refreshing.

I guess what I don't like about these records is that the rhythm tracks are sooooooooo generic and it's almost as if the actual content of the songs is of little importance. Unlike you, I feel that updating tunes in this manner totally demeans them and doesn't show any real respect to the original.

I agree with you Quinny, in as much as I personally much prefer the originals, however its 2005 and if someone was spinning the originals they would be alone, unless of course the club was made up of > 35 year olds.

Couple of times a month, mostly saturday nights, a club here in MOntreal does a disco-nite music only. Best nite of the month (talking about drinks $$$), DJ is near is 50's. Crowd is, like you said, mostly in their 35s and higher. But club is full.

Theres also another one, downtown, disco (70's) muzik only, open friday-sat. Always full.

Theres a market for that music, even after 30 some years.
