What were the best disco instrumentals ?

Or those with very limited lyrics?

    Here are my choices:

    The Hustle - Van McCoy
    Tangerine - Salsoul Orchestra
Magic Bird of Fire - Salsoul Orchestra
    The Express - BT Express
    Cocomotion - El Coco
The Disco Theme - The Trammps
Fly Robin Fly - SIlver Convention
    Brazil - Ritchie Family
    Machine Gun - The Commodores
    Chase - Giorgio Moroder
Satin Soul - Love Unlimited Orchestra

Honorable mention: Percy Faith Orchestra's "Summer Place '76", a disco version of his classic "Theme from a Summer Place"

We've had many threads about disco instrumentals in the past and I for one have learned a lot.
I general, I prefer the more jazzy takes on instrumentals though
just a few for now...these are actually not that jazzy when it comes down to it.

    Van McKoy - Two Points
Webster Lewis - On The Town
    Herbie Mann - Supermann
    Herb Alpert - Manhattan Melody
    Stanley Turrentine - Disco Dancin'

I love instrumental disco & jazzy disco, but my interpretation of instrumental is no or very little vocals & many of the tracks listed above (such as Fly Robin Fly & Cocomotion), brilliant as they are, tend to feature those lovely 'girly' unison vocals that characterised alot of classic disco material. It doesn't matter & it's pointless putting music into categories I s'pose so.....

Some of my personal faves are:

    'Feeling You' - LEB
    'Open Up' - Chic
    'Go Get It' - Metropolis
'Grooves' - Alec R.Costandinos (from Trocadero Bleu Citron soundtrack)
Theme from The Deep - John Barry (inst.version of Donna's hit)
    'Sexy' - MFSB
    'Machine Gun' - Commodores
'Say You Will' - Eddie Henderson
'Ride the Groove' - Players Association
    'Whistle Bump' - Deodato
Theme fron Jaws - Lalo Schifrin
    'Movin' - 400 Blows
    'Pranian Man' - Prana People
    'Pipeline' - Bruce Johnston
    'Moon Boots' - ORS
    'Disco Energy' - Universal Energy
    'Beyond' - Herb Alpert
    'Sea Hunt' - Patrick Cowley
    'Lust' - Rinder & Lewis
    'Freak On' - Lemon
    'Thousand Finger man' - Candido
'Mysteries Of The World' - MFSB
    'Dreamin' - Heath Brothers
'Summer Madness' - Kool & The Gang
    'Jazz Carnival' - Azymuth

Is that like location, location, location? Only kidding, I totally agree noman that the Players Association were brilliant & rather under-rated IMO. I have all 5 of their LPs from '77 - '81 & have recently bought Mike Mandel's 'Sky Music' LP as it's produced by Danny Weiss & has all the same musicians as P.A. had & it features a cover of Steely Dan's 'Peg', & you know how much I like Steely Dan!

All our dreams are coming true - Gene Page (in my eyes: a classic LUO/based song)

    Best Disco Instrumentals

Please dont forget MFSB's classic rendition of "Summertime", Salsoul Orchestra's "Alpha Centuri" from the "Magic Journey" LP, and The Brothers (featuring Bhen Lanzaroni on keyboards) with "Brother's Theme" and "Voce Abusou"...There's a song in Voyage's first album with a Scottish sound to it whose title escapes me. On the "limited lyrics" category, please include Richard Hewson Orchestra's "Love for Hire"...

    disco instrumentals

I have been really grooving lately to "Disco Connection" by the Isaac Hayes Movement. I really also always liked "Makes You Blind" by The Glitter Band.

Again, just a note to remind that almost all the early raps (79 to 82) had great disco & funk instrumentals on the flip sides.
I think this is the reason why I collect the old school rap
