Some great lists out there, folks!

What about some of these classic Rare Groove tracks?

Jackson Sisters - I Believe In Miracles - The defining sound of the London rare groove scene. One of the best funk tracks I know – it has a simply perfect rhythm! Simply glorious from start to finish. Which is only two and a half minutes. An extended 12” version was released for the rare groove scene by popular demand in the Eighties – which happily I have on vinyl.

Brother To Brother - Chance With You - As far as I am concerned, this is their killer funk tune. Superb funky bass and arrangements, teasing jazzy piano riff – but it is those wickedly funky vocals that grab you on this one.

JB’s – Gimme Some More You could type out a whole list of JB’s track This one has a deadly subtle little bass riff, and super catchy chanted chorus. And the JB horns are in abundance, of course!

Rufus and Chaka Khan - Once You Get Started
A fairly obscure track from Rufus that gained a loyal club following over here. Ms Khan and the gang really shine on this super funky workout!

and I guess that my favourite mainstream funk track is:

People's Choice - Do It Anyway You Wanna. Reckon this one has got the perfect mix between a funky and disco beat. Classic stuff.

    jazz_pilgrim,
I agree, Jackson Sisters - I belive in Miracles is a killer, their LP is quite good too, especially the song 'why do fools fall in love'

as for dance music with a funky touch ,Tommy Stewart - all tracks on the lp is great but what comes to mind now is 'Practise what you Preach' or 'Make Happy music
