Safely Removing Label/Sleeve old markings

Is there any safe product and/or technique that can be use to remove Ink or 'Whiteout" markings from Labels?

How about removing Masking Tape glue residue from Covers/sleeves?

Mix,
Tape or stickers of any kind can be tricky since you may tear some of the paper label or jacket underneath. If you can get the whole thing off and just have some sticky residue than you may want to try "Goo Gone", which comes in a little bottle.

I usually just rub the sticky residue with my fingers until it's all gone, but the discoloration will likely stay. As for white-out, I don't know. Perhaps the Goo-Gone?

Dried residue glue from masking tape is extremely difficult to remove.Acetone will work but use extreme care and I mean extreme as it can be detrimental to the vinyl.I've had some success by putting a little acetone on a soft cloth and rubbing the area lightly.But once again Caution Practice on something you don't mind ruining like an old useless record to get the hang of it.Isopropyl alcohol will work on some glues and inks again use cautiously.

Ok, Bernie, using a similar product at hand 'Goof Off' with a Q-tip I was able to remove the white-out markings, the first job was over done a bit and Label discolored to much, but the others are much better, trick was not to rub to hard, this product didn't work on pen markings nor black ink stampings, on masking tape it works but the residue is just to much (even after brushing off excess first) and needs to be allow to dry and re- applied or cover will discolor.

Bernie I also try Resolve carpet cleaner and furniture fabric stain removers without success, I'm going to get the real 'Goo Gone' maybe thats better.

OriginalB, Thanks for the tip, I will try Acetone next, I'm trying to remove the dry glue leftover from some Albums covers I ruined by taping over BITD, (wont bother with 12") so the vinyl won't be a problem, the tape is easy to remove but leaves behind an ugly mark....

OriginalB, Acetone works on the residue but again it needs to be rubbed hard and then it causes discoloration, Isopropyl (head cleaner) didn't work on label markings (blue pen ink) or stamp ink either :x
I'll try the real 'Goo Gone' later but as I suspected, it looks like the tape residue won't come off. :cry:
