This is a very fast song with a female vocalist. In the song it mentions santa ana and davey crocket and I think it says something about the alamo.I think its early 80's but not sure.

The song is titled "The Mexican" based on music by Ennio Morricone from the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western "For A Few Dollars More".

A group called Babe Ruth first released their version in 1972.

The Bombers covered it in 1979 (I think)

John "Jellybean" Benitez released another version in 1984. I would guess this is the version you heard. It was pretty popular at the time.

The version for 1984 is from John Jellybean Benitez - The Mexican on EMI America records, the best version is 8:44 long.

The older version from the 70's should be from Babe Ruth.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.

Enter "Mexican" and "Boodikka" in the search engine and you'll find a chronology I posted a while back in the Bombers: A Bad Purchase thread. Marky's date for the Babe Ruth version is probably correct, but my date of 1978 for the Bomber's version is correct. The one you would have heard is probably the Jellybean version.

Yeah!! I know exactly the feeling, that moment rediscovering completely forgotten fav hits.

Here are a few of the ones I have recently freaked for:

    late 70's:
    ---------
Caroline Bernier - Hold me touch me

    early 80's:
    ----------
Jimmy Ross - Fall into a trance
The three degrees - Jump the gun (part two)
    John Miles - Slow down
Alan Vega - Jukebox babe (newwave)
    Freddie James - Hollywood
Heaven 17 - Play to win
Ray Parker Jr - Still in the groove

    late 80's:
    ---------
E.G. Daily - Mind over matter ((and)) Say it, Say it
    Neneh Cherry - Buffalo stance
Nitzer Ebb - Join in the chant
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
