As I recall Mighty Pope was a local talent in the Toronto area playing the bars and I do remember this record as not being particularly hot or memorable. There are plenty the of "did not make it" records that could be classed as rare simply because not enough were produced because demand wasn't there.Valuable I think not! Maybe an item of interest to a collector.

We received two 12" promos on Mighty Pope: "Sway" and "Sweet Blindness". Neither made huge impressions on the dance floor but "SB" got the better response.

BTW - The album and 12" mixes of "Sway" and "New Orleans" are identical and remixed by Jim Burgess. The 12" of "Sweet Blindness" however was given the always excellent 'Midnight Mix' by Richie Rivera. :)

I remember a very good version of "Because the night" (the Springsteen/Patti Smith song) done by Mighty Pope. Recently I found a vinyl copy of the album. Sadly, the vinyl is ondulated and I can't play it!

This is also the b-side of the "Sweet Blindness" 12", DRCS 8885, WB/RFC Records, 1979.
